Fragtard DayZ Server

I've still not heard from my "server partner" so I'm going ahead with the acquisition of our own DayZ Server.

I've already registered with the Old Host and currently have an open ticket asking about setup time on a 40-slot DayZ Server based out of Chicago IL.

With any luck, I'll have a new Server up and running before the day is over, preferably around the busier play times of the majority of our DayZ contingent.

I do need a good idea of the proper window in time that the Server should be setup for so there is a Poll attached to this topic asking about your DayZ play schedule in Eastern Standard Time.

Please vote as popular opinion will determine the window in time the Server is setup.

For Fireblade its weekday evenings, and then weekday afternoons as well if I let him play all day on our days off lol

I play evenings too when he convinces me to play!

OK guys and gals I have a bit of bad news because of the response I got from Tech. Support.

Setting up a Server happens by priority which I'm sure we all know but they say it can take up to 24 hours to get one running. This means I have no idea what window in time we'd be live.

I'll still order the Server sometime today because I don't want to lose out on Chicago but will ask it to appear offline until we're ready to turn it on.

That way we can boot up the Server and get it populated when the member density at Fragtard is at it's highest.

No I think -6 hours. That should have 6am for UTC+1 where most of Europe is actually at 6pm or 18:00 hours. If I am reading this Time Zone map correctly which I am not very good at. Anyway I'm trying to have the time set to 6am when it's 6pm in Germany.

UTC (GMT) is EST-5/ CST -6, MT-7, PST-8

And then if your going for Europe you typically want to add on an hour for UTC. As UTC is London based time zone which is an hour behind most European countries.

The sun going up in DayZ is usually around 5:00 ish in the morning and going down 7:00 PM/19:00 in the evening.

Most Euro's play in the evening (Euro time) as far as I can tell.

If you put the server time at +10 UTC the sun is rising at 1:00 PM EST/19:00 CET and going down at 3:00 AM EST/9:00 CET.

I think that should keep most people happy, although the Euro's will have a dark server during the day.

I'm ordering the Server right now but need to set it to one of the following options:

Timezone choices are as follows, which one do I want:

• UTC-8
• UTC-4
• UTC
• UTC+4
• UTC+8

I need to know the above when ordering the Server.

That means:

3 PM EST/21:00 CET sun up
5 AM EST/11:00 CET sun down

Please try to connect and let me know asap. If it needs to be shut down for a few hours then I'd like to tackle that right now.
