Guild Wars 2 beta weekend 27-29 april

Next weekend the Guild Wars 2 beta will be open for anyone who wants to try/play it. [EDIT: you have to pre-purchase GW2 to get access]

The play time runs from Friday, April 27, at noon PDT (GMT-7) and ends on Sunday, April 29, at 11:59 p.m. PDT (GMT-7).

Ok, just received an email from NC Soft concerning the upcoming beta weekend .
Here's a quote from that email :

The next Guild Wars 2Beta Weekend Event is on
27-30 April 2012 and we
want you to join us!
The only way to guarantee an invitation to this three-day event is by pre-purchasing your copy of Guild Wars 2.

So the way i read it , it says that if you have Not pre-purchased (note that its not pre-order) there's no chance in hell you are getting in ....

Well if I can't try it I'm certainly not going to even consider buying it.

I never played Guild Wars in the first place so I have no idea if my money would go to good use if I were to actually purchase this game?

Saving my money for a new computer anyway, plus Max Payne 3, BF3 Expansions and Assassins Creed 3.

Like DOA said, it appears only people that have pre-purchased GW2 can enter the beta. I guess towards the end of the beta period they'll probably have a public event where everyone can join.

They'll always have an open marketing event at the end and most likely will have a demo as well.

Its part of the Arenanet marketing strategy, the 'beta' events are not actually beta's in the typical sense, they're just hype building events which allow more and more people in each time until release.

I'm still undecided. GW2 will be all about the micropayments, while it has some really epic features Arenanet and NCsoft are a different companies to the one that brought out GW1.

Jez and I played the 2nd beta weekend. It's an amazing game. Looking forward to it and I hope it has lasting power.

It was the best gaming weekend I have had since WAR was in beta. I played GW1 very, very late in the game and it bored me to tears tbh. I gave up and said yes to GW2 only because Eng was so pumped about it but I went into the beta expecting to hate it. I think it took me 30 minutes to turn to him and say, OMG ... this is AWESOME.

In honor of Lefty, I say we name the new guild The Nut Guards.

Both Jez and I think this would be a fantastic idea. It defiantly has some endearing qualities to it.
