Headset disaster!

The Greatest Evil have just happened. My headset broke yesterday (like, physically destroyed). I'll try to mend it for now as my funds at the time are close to the absolute zero mark.
If I can't fix it with a healthy dose of glue and prayers I have no headset to use for our events and that means I'll be out for a while until I'm funded enough to buy a new headset.
Oh well, even the pixels will have a nice Christmas this year then... :icon_cheesygrin:

I'm interested in any suggestions on what headset I should buy next. Any links or names of good headsets are most welcome!

I have had decent luck with Logitect stuff. I tried the wireless but they break easy, the kids do tend to be hard on the corded ones too.

Budget?

The last pair I got were these: http://www.razerzone.com/store/razer-carcharias

Unlike anything else Razor I've ever touched its not crap! The only problem with them is the TrackIR pro clip only fits near the end of the bands which interferes with the fit a little bit. Sound is good and so is the mic. My only real dislike is that its a phono jack and not USB.

Hmmm....Logitec you say? Interesting. Won't have any wireless though as they come with additional hassle (judged entirely on my earlier experiences ;)).
Thanks for the tip! Will see what Logitec can provide :)

Budget? The sky is the limit as soon as my lottery ticket kicks in, but until then it's around €200,-
Thanks for the tip mondo! I'll see what my local street pusher has of the Razorwares :)

While I love my Sennheiser PC350's and am currently on my second set of ear cups pads (they're replaceable) due to longevity, I can't argue with the reviews for the Plantronics GameCon 780's here.

The advantages are you could buy two for the price of some 350's and are native USB, also the 350's are analog for my internal sound card. I have not owned Plantronics ever; however, I can speak personally for the Sennheiser's longevity. I have in a drawer a pair of Steelsound and Logitechs that didn't last as long as hoped under very normal wear and tear.

Hope this info helps!

Agreed with Ogammi. Pick up a decent set of Senns but not the cheap ones as they're kinda lousy. Something like this:

I've got one of the PC360's as well and I really like 'em. My previous headphones were Sennheisers as well, but lower budget (PC160). Decided to go with some higher end ones when the mic on the PC160 borked out. Sennheisers are really worth their money.

 @ LeJerk - The disaster scene is a mess! I must spare your fragile minds of this abomination.

Thanks for all the suggestions guys! I really really appreciate them.
So far I have set my mind on the Sennheiser PC 360 G4ME (despite it's cheesy name) as it has received some very positive reviews and seems to be a headset I can have for a long time and be very happy with.
The Logitech G35 looks very good as well, but according to the reviews it doesn't have the long life the Sennheiser can boast of. It's quite a bit cheeper though so it's not off my radar entirely.

Again, thanks for helping me out here! :)

A small update:
My first attempt at fixing my headset failed miserably as the glue I used clearly wasn't tough enough to hold the pieces together. I have now applied some heavy duty glue type but it has to dry for 24 hours before I can use it.
So for tonight I can't host any Arma2 event :(

I'm off to bed. Been home with fever and headache and will most likely spend this week in the bed :(

Get well soon HaJa! You share the same fate as many of my co-workers - pre-Yuletide sickness. Use it wisely and you can evade most of the shopping stress of this period ;)

Hehe, i cough mu lungs out and it's doubtful I'm getting out this week :(
However, I managed to get the garage ready last week so now I can pursue my
old hobby again. Modelbuilding! I have two objects to start with as per image below :)

Sweet! That should keep you occupied for a while, just be careful not to sneez while gluing the parts together :D

I've done some gluing myself and my headset seems to be back in business for a little while. Loctite is every hobbyist's friend ;)
