Hello and I'm Sorry

Well, life has taught me a lot. I have seen many ups and many downs. I have helped many and I have hurt many.

First, I want to say hello to all those whom I think of often and will never forget. Second, I want to say I am sorry to those I think of often and will never forget.

My name was Anubis. I was a part of WOLFGaming.net. I thought I was mature enough to handle many situations, but let pride, pettiness and immaturity get in the way of relationships that mean more to me today, than when I had them.

See, I had a stroll down memory lane today. I play GW2 and have a guild named Noobs R Us on Stormisle Bluff. I am talking with one of my guildies that is a serious gamer. We started talking about gaming and BF2 and I got to the topic of WOLFGaming.net. Then I seen stress balls. It sadden me. I then went to WOLFServers.com and seen the thread about the move to here.

I am glad to see there is a safe place on the internet still.

I miss you all and the funny thing is I was thinking of Ron (Robustus) and it has been eating at my soul recently something terrible to see how he is doing.

I want all those who have affected my life to know that I thank you all and I do miss you all quite a lot. I am a gamer. I am a WOLF and most of all, I am sorry to hurt as many as I have.

Life has given me quite a few punches to the face to help me realize what really is important and what is not.

I want to apologize to Engr, Pete, Robustus, Duke, JohnnyK, and all those that I have let down and those whom I have allowed my pride and immaturity to put a wedge between.

I miss you all and am VERY happy to see you all stuck together. We were a unique bunch and had the SAFEST place on the interweb to call home.

Long live Friendship. The names will only change from WOLF to Frag and to something else as we morph in life, but the same thing will always apply- the joy we get from the camaraderie and the sound of each other's voices poking fun at each other.

With MUCH love and apology,

A Stoopitn00b.

I've thought long and hard, deleted what I've written a few times. I didn't want to throw that all back in your face because it takes allot to apologise, but to be honest, I can't trust or respect you or anything you say. What you and Rob did was not just despicable but really quite stupid.

You and Rob should have sold WGN to myself, Paul, Ken and Thad when we brought it up. We were for the first time ever paying for the site and servers out of member donations, we were in a place that you and Rob wanted by never achieved, you and Rob had no interest in WGN for years then you saw the bank balance and undid years of work. Paul and Thad were kicked out as bad apples when in reality were the core of what kept the place running; yet it was your's and Robs ownership and inability to react to our requests which stopped us progressing. You tore into and kicked out two kind, honest, trusted and respected guys who never wanted anything else but to see WGN work.

I honestly hope you've learnt from this and feel some kind of guilt.

Wow. It's thanks to the very people who were wronged that we are (for the most part) all back together. Wapwap got me back here through my brother and I was welcomed back like an old family member by Duke, Engy and all the rest. It was a special place, a little corner of life that was fun and you could just lose yourself in for a while that was destroyed bit by agonising bit. At least you apologised... takes a big man to say sorry (if that is you). Such a shame but hey, this place is going alright thanks to the guys and gals who make it happen, with Duke and the other admins at the helm, I know with absolute certainty this place won't go the same way

Mondo, I will not dispute what I did was wrong. I thought I found a way to try make money and still have something that I enjoyed. I pushed for WOLFServers. I tried to make it so the service were sold to pay enough to grow.

I had to read what you wrote a couple times to remember what had happened, but it then dawned on me that you were referring to selling the WOLFServers and WGN. For the record, Rob and I had an argument, I got burnt out, took some time off and then find out it was sold. I had absolutely nothing to do with the sale or did I receive one red cent. That's just for the record. I have my own issues around that but nothing relating to what I did wrong

I will take ownership for the events that led to the eventual demise of WGN. For that I am truely and honestly sorry. Through this experience, I realized the WGN was an ideology that loses it's value once one is placed on it. I ruined gaming for hundreds and left a wake of destruction and displacement because I wanted to try and leverage what WGN had to try and gain from it initially for the group, but then for me personally. I got greedy. You got burned.

I knew this was going to sting when I initiated it, but you all do DESERVE the apology.

Those who picked up the pieces and put them back together only to have them ripped from them again deserve the biggest apology. I know you all put in a lot of time and energy in building and then repairing. I am very sorry that your efforts were blown up in the eventual demise of WGN.

I never knew WGN was down until I seen the post on this site. I also want to say Thank you to Ken for still being a friend when I needed it the most. That man is the definition of character and something I wish I had before things got as bad as they did.

Mondo, I am sorry to have hurt you and exhibited behaviors unbecoming of a friend and a true WGN member. I am very sorry. I am taking ownership for everything that led to it's fall. I know words can't replace WGN, but people are only remembered in life by the deeds they do and I don't want to leave an open wound on hundreds that were affected by my poor decisions, greed and immaturity. I want repair this and give closure to something that has eaten at me for the last few years.

I am not trying to weasel my way back to hurt anyone again and would totally understand if someone told me to keep moving. I just may do that anyway because I know it's hard for people move forward and my trolling around would be a painful reminder every time I say or do something.

My sincerest and most humble apologies to all.

I know there's going to be a lot of emotion here but I'd be remiss if I didn't say that I really don't want to see this turn into a flame war or anything else. I don't care what happened in the past, we've all had a plethora of chances to purge those demons in Kittie's "Is Wolfgaming finally done thread" and I'd like to keep them there if possible.

No matter what is said in this topic there will always likely remain 2 very opposing sides on this matter. Whether you accept Anubis' apology and move forward or whether you want to bring the past to the present and disallow him any sort of closure is up to you; I will not endeavour to bend your will.

That said, if you feel you cannot move past what was done back at Wolf then please measure your response against flaming because we won't allow that here.

Regardless of where you stand on this topic, I can say that I know it takes a huge amount of balls to register at a site not only populated but run by a number of people you directly wronged in the past. He could have come here and started up a flame war or registered under another guise and none of us would have been the wiser.

...Instead he took the respectable and straight forward approach of accepting responsibility while apologizing which I don't care who you are; you should acknowledge at least that much.

I've personally gone off numerous times against xxxGiJoe here and to this day I still hate the guy more than poison but I'd still give him the stage to make things right. We've all phuked up in the past and I'm sure there are things we'd ask a certain level of compassion and/or understanding for so whether you like Joe or not he has that right as do all of us.

Switching gears, there were a lot of things about Wolf that worked but there were a lot of things about Wolf that were absolutely beyond ridiculous so we've endeavoured to take the good, try to build upon it and completely ignore the rest.

Just so you know Anubis, this place is not Wolf nor will it ever be allowed to become Wolf or any derivative thereof.

Wolf suckered us into believing it was some lofty ideal when ALL IT WAS was a platform to bring people together. Wolf was nothing more than a social gathering but we all believed it to be more which is completely ridiculous.

At Fragtard it is about the people period. Yes we will try and advance the website and the Community as a whole but we will not trample on those who helped build our foundation.

Fragtard is about bringing people together and keeping them together come h3ll or high water.

Everyone deserves this right.

I would expect though that there will be some colourful responses to this thread Joe which I won't be able to do much about. Right or wrong, Wolf elicited a lot of emotion in many and some of those emotions still bubble up under the right circumstances.

...this may be the right circumstances.

Nobody here is going to tell you to come or go. Ultimately what you do is up to you; I just hope you can understand that many feel the loss of Wolf was completely avoidable.

Many point the bullseye directly at both you and Rob and rightly so I'm afraid to say.

You and I have come to know each other over a number of years so I'm sure you know where I stand especially given my Lifesupporters background but there will be many who either can't or won't let bygones be bygones.

I'm sorry but there's nothing I can do about that and more importantly, I won't even try.

I got to tell Rob to Fuck Off on TS and that closed Wolf for me once and for all. Some may seek the equivalent of that here, in this topic, in this day, to bring about true closure for themselves.

I have to allow them the vehicle to do so just as I have to allow you the vehicle to purge your demons.

I hope you can understand.

Ken,

I understand and I am willing accept any and all comments and statements, because my actions have hurt so many, this is an opportunity for them to express themselves and its an opportunity for me to realize how many people I hurt on multiple occasions. I am seeing a main theme and it pains me to realize this. I was selfish and abused the trust and friendship of many for personal gain. Whether its in the web or IRL, it's irrelevant. I hurt people and I am accepting my punishment and if me going away because I still am a symbol of this pain, then that is what I am prepared to do. I am glad to see you all stuck together. If there was any good that came from this, you all got closer and I learned some very painful but valuable lessons about the destructivness of greed.

I am going to continue the sobering thread.

Joe,

I never the pleasure/displeasure to make your acquaintance over at WOLF due to my lowbie status. I met Engy and a big pile of other awesome players in Voyage Century and was so happy that I, a girl closet gamer, had finally found an amazing home. Eng and I quickly became great friends and he did confide in me some of what was going on behind the scenes. Even so, I won't even pretend to be any kind of expert and that is why on any WOLF thread I participate by reading only.

After the split, I was lucky enough to meet tm in GW1 and then much more recently Duke and Wappy here at Fragtard. Mondo is a fellow Brit so he is my brother by awesome birth right :p

Anyway, I guess the point I am trying to make is that I have witnessed the fallout of some pretty spectacular bad decision making but as an outsider I don't have the emotional connection to WOLF that many here did and still do. The fact that so many here still get super-charged when talking about WOLF just shows how much people really cared about the community and that the complete loyalty they had to WOLF is what made it so painful when they were so mercilessly kicked and repeatedly side slapped in the balls (I'm told this sucks).

However, I do also appreciate the guts it took to apologize - although for many I think it's way too little too late and possibly also a slight intrusion into people's new home here at Frag. I hope that the apology helps you to bury some demons in your past and perhaps over time it will help to finally put to rest the ongoing storms that remain in people's subconciousnesses over what happened.

Jez, I believe you are right. I am putting myself in the shoes of others and looking through their perspective. I would feel intruded upon by the very person who made me have to leave a great place behind to die.

With this, I wish you all the very best of life. I miss you all terribly.

I am so sorry.

Everything that needs to be said has been said, repeatedly, and we need to move on from the past and learn from it, not relive it.

Anubis, you have balls to come here and apologize, that shows a lot of character that I honestly did not think you had in you. In the end, mixing friends with trying to make money is a very slippery slope. WOLFservers was faltering, so you thought you could use the people at WOLFgaming to bolster it, that was wrong, you knew it, and you admitted to it, Thank you. It bothered me little what was done personally to me, but what hurt me was seeing the WOLF community being used for profit. What's done is done, end of story.

2012 and Fragtard, we have the beginnings of a really strong community. We are all old friends reunited enjoying some escape from real life. Anubis, you are not going to find many friends here and it will be a long road to mend any relationships, if that is even possible. You have undertaken a very challenging task, one that I have no idea how will turn out. Goodluck.

I will not tell you that you are not welcome here nor will I ban you, that's not how we run Fragtard. It's a free country and a free interweb. I hope you find the closure you are looking for.

Wow, I must admit you're one of the two people I never expected to sign up here, let alone write an apology. That must have taken some courage, though I still doubt you have a complete feel of how much you've wronged and hurt people when you and gijoe returned and forcefully yanked the reins from the hands of the very people that had worked so hard to get wolf back in shape. People I have grown to respect, not because of their position, but because of their kindness, (social) intelligence and the abundance of energy they spent at creating a place for everyone to have fun and feel at home.

What was done to Paul and Thad was enough reason for me to leave wolf right then and there, and that's not even taking into account the greed and coldheartedness wich accompanied your and gijoes 'return' to wolf back then.
Frankly I felt some satisfaction to see your actions, and lack of it, thereafter fail, to see you discover that pissing at a tree doesn't grow it, with the almost inevitable result of wolf being sold for scraps eventually.

Personally I have no regrets about all the energy and the thousands of hours I spent at wolf, next to having fun and playing games with people I respect and enjoy to spend time with, I learned a lot, about life, about social interacting with all kinds of different people from all over the world, about how it's possible to have great fun with people regardless different beliefs, personalities, backgrounds, you name it.

I don't think in this case any apology or action can right the wrongs that were done in the past, or soothe the hurt that some of the people still carry with them, even after all these years. You seem to have come to the conclusion, thanks to events at wolf and irl, that coldhearted greed isn't the way forward, and that is good, for you.
I suffer from the same trust issues that Mondo described, so I still feel unsure if you're here to make others feel better with your apology, or to make yourself feel better. I guess you're the best judge of that though. However you seem to be taking steps to be a better person then you were in certain situations in the past, and I can only commend that, and hope it will help you in your future.
We all have the right to learn from our mistakes, as little as it may do to change the past.

Im not going to pretend Im happy to see you here. What you and 1 other selfish person did destroyed so many peoples trust, and so many friends that have gone and cannot be found.

You come here with your tail between your legs with "Im sorry", well, Im sorry too because I dont care how much balls people think that took, its not good enough and never will be.

You will NEVER understand the full intent of the damage that was done, there are names here, like Duke, Engnr and Kit Id throw myself infront of a train for....people who have done the best and yet got burnt the most. It makes me sick to my stomach to see you here. I love these guys, I always have and always will and Im glad that they are stronger then ever before because at least I know, they will never let that same shit happen again.

I'm referencing to just before you stormed back in and laid down your vision. Some of us had talked with Rob about potentially buying the rights as his permission to do anything was a bottle neck on most decisions, we had subscribers, paying all the bills, money in the paypal account and the Wolfservers BF/FH server was shite and we wanted to get another provider but of cause we couldn't.

You came back and did what you did, Rob came back and backed you up. We assumed it was because you guys saw the $$$$ in that paypal account or felt threatened by us or something. In fact we have no idea why you did what you did that day. We still don't know why you did what you did.

I have no idea of the eventual demise of WGN past 2006/7. I got myself removed from all access the day you kicked paul and thad out.
