Help in translation - Dutch?

I think this is Dutch? Just wondering what was in the bottle!

tried to translate online and it came up with carbide (dutch carbid), in some parts of my country it is tradition to do this outside during new year.....

It's cheaper than fire works and makes a better noise.

You basically put a solid piece of carbide in a milk canister (that's used the most) and add a bit of water. The carbide reacts with water and forms a gas in the closed canister. You ignite the gas through a hole in the backside of the canister and blow off the cover or sometimes they push a ball inside which gets blown away. You then find your cover/ball again and do the same thing again!

You could even do this on small scale with an empty paint can or such.

I do have a feeling though the video in question is a little fake, although it would give the same effect if it was real

This is yet another fact that helps to further solidify my view that the Dutch are in fact completely awesome.

I collected the first fact, that led me to surmise that the Dutch were in fact awesome, at age 9 when, on a family holiday to The Netherlands, I had my very first Stroopwafle. Genius.
