I died! And More Important Disasters!

Went AFK for about 35-40 minutes at camp and was killed. Should have listened to Duke and looked for people coming up that road to scout our vehilcles and camp after shooting at us. Respawned and got NE Camp's ATV and drove to our camp. Two players named MACK DADDY BALLAHOLIC and BIGGY THANGZ appear to be possible perpetrators according to server log time hacks.

Here's the bad news; UAZ (Jeep) is gone. Hatchback shot-up and unmovable (wheels), 1 ATV unmovable (wheels) Ural damaged but moved (only middle right wheel not fixed) and two of my tents are not packable now. Moved rest of camp NW of old position by 1 km approx, one Tractor moved up the hill and visible from old camp to look like crappy job of hiding it as I didn't know what else to try to do, while on solo. Spawning into camp should not be considered safe at this time in particular.

If these players are on, focus should be on ambush at our camp and defending new location. Other priorities should include re-acquireing the UAZ and permanent move of camp from that locale to another locaation as that one is burned. Given what was missing, a two-person raid seems about correct friends could come back given the size of our camp.

Well crap. Any important gear missing?

We should probably consider moving further away when we have more people on.

I dont suppose you saw any clan tags ?
Or anything else that could lead to a homebase server ?

n00b and I spotted huge areas where a camp might blend in well between Gvozdno and Petrovka as the area is completely flat and very lush for the most part. There looks to be a recess within the mountains North by North West of Devil's Castle that my be the perfect hiding spot.

Distance wise I think it's actually closer to the North West Airfield than the current camp is.

that is also a problem is that all these areas you guys keep talking about are areas that we have found other camps at... or in the general facility of said areas,

I dont want to talk about locations over the interwebs

I don't know why you're worried, it's not like anyone is going to find the website through the server ;)

Need to put up a tent or two in the middle of nowhere with the special stuff in them, so if the camp does get found we have to best stuff still hidden so we can rebuild.

Amazingly some very valuable items were missed, I made an effort to move at least one of everything important and moved them with the new vehicles. Before I discuss any details, I'd like to ask Duke for a registered Fragtard DayZ player forum if possible, I know it's paranoia, but one of those would allow for unfettered communications on locations and operations. Took me until 7 am, but I will be on TS to help point out our early TZ players in the right direction.

Well it sounds like it got exciting last night.... the camp was going to be found sooner or later.... we travelled the same road home everytime... the dead Zombies on the road should have been a sign... oh well...

Done, it's not even visible on the main forum index, the only way to see it is to go into the ArmA Series Forum.

Let's just make sure we keep the hidden forum to sensitive discussions only though. The more public content we have, the greater chance we have of attracting Internet Membership which is important to the health of any Community.

Damn, that's bad news! It was really a matter of time when this would happen though. Luckily you were able to save some of the stuff, good job on that effort.

What's a good plan to keep the chance of being discovered as low as possible? Moving location more often?

People can read some of these posts. I googled Mack Daddy's name and this thread was the first thing that popped up.

When I logged out of FT and re-googled I couldn't read all of the content but I wasn't sure if there is some sneaky way to access the cache. Anyway, just thought I would mention it. I'm a web n00b.

Non-Registered, Not-Logged-In and Users Awaiting E-mail Confirmation cannot access this forum I assure you, that includes the Search Engines.

What you're seeing is what Google indexed in the old forum. Anyone who comes here and is not registered will be shown an error page stating they must login to read these two posts.

I'm not sure how long it takes Google to de-index a post though so if anyone is really concerned simply start a new post.

This is probably a lesser security breach then ones that have already been put out on the web voluntarily. While I cannot say for sure that those breaches led to this or whether the fact that its not that hard a spot to search and our traffic patterns led to it, but I personally find risking everyone's efforts in order to brag to be a bit disgusting. I could go on, but I think that's enough to say on the matter.

IMHO we should even consider making this subforum invite-only; registering is easy, and then all the info is there. This would allow open discussion of sensitive info like camp locations.

All general DayZ discussion should of course be in the public forum.

I'm really not interested in that option because it just means wayyy too many special permissions which become harder and harder to track down the road.

We can perhaps look at creating a DayZ Usergroup instead but then how do we decide who to let in and who to block?

What if I want to invite someone into the fold that you don't or vice versa?

I've heard people complain about the segregation at Wolf between the Community at large and the Forgotten Hope people so you'll have to forgive me if I'm not embracing Community segregation here over another game.

I'm willing to hear ideas but I do not want to create any type of "elitist" group here. Some are happy because their in the fold while others are left out in the cold and miserable.

It's a recipe for tearing a Community apart and I want to learn from Wolf, not become it.

Besides, the Server does not carry our name and there aren't any ingame messages pointing here so the chances of anyone finding your camps in Server via Fragtard are next to nil.

As we learned last night, there is a way higher probability of someone simply following the sound of an engine to find the camp.
