I'm in for a few stints on the in between times.

Only times I can not do is 8-10am EST and 10pm-12am EST.

I'll be doing some full stint practice tonight to make up for the last week that I've been getting back into Ovals. Need to relearn turning right again.

Preliminary schedule:

http://www.speakvisually.net/Endurance_Spa24hr_2016schedule.htm

Please reply with any issues or concerns you might have. It's still early and very flexible at the moment.

- I did not include a mandatory codriver... most of us are on / around all day and good about helping. So this is not necessary I think. At least we'll try it this way.
- With the above point, we're trying out MOSTLY 2 hour stints rather than four hour alternating-driver blocks.
- Lap times are approx as well as overall lap count / stint count. Just estimation at this point. Need to do full fuel runs (obviously) and record time spent in pit lane.
- @Noodleguitar Hopefully you're OK with a late-race 4 hour stint. If not we can definitely adjust. Same goes with your first stint which is 3 hours, which is also the race start stint.
- @Duke Hopefully you'll be comfortable with 2 hour stints with rest in between. If not, again we can adjust. You did well in the Six Hours of The Glen, just have to hope for drivers not going backwards again.
- @Fromthenavy I planned two 2-hour stints around your schedule. Let me know if those are OK.

Schedule looks awesome to me, I have no problems with it.

As soon as I get the fuel usage/lap time average/pit lane length, I will make another fuel chart so we can discuss what a good strategy might be. I see you estimate 65 minutes on a tank which might open up some options. A little like the Nürburgring, the laps are quite lengthy so the difference between doing 25-26 laps is quite large.

Perfect.

I've updated the OP with my set and the schedule (which will be updated eventually once we get concrete stint length, lap times, fuel info, etc) The set, as mentioned is very stable and driveable I feel - could be a bit better regarding understeer.

I just tested that setup in default weather. Is the hot tire pressures a bit high? My front wheels were at 200 kPa.
The setup is also running fuel map 2 instead of 3. Why is that?

Fuel map 2. I'm assuming that's not throttle shape if you're commenting on it? Does merc have throttle shaping? Stupid Mercedes...

Also yes, that is pretty hot for tire pressure.

Feel free to tweak the tire pressures. Map 2 reduces the torque a bit and helps with the wheelspin when upshifting. Feel free to change to 3. Main concern for the setup here was to get the diff and dampers right ap that the car is stable and has bite in the downhill corners. You should be able to tweak everything else to preference.

Er... I think there's some wires being crossed. Somewhat

Fuel map =/= Throttle shaping. It has to do with fuel useage and fuel saving, not throttle application. In the Merc tool tips, it says 3 is not typical, while 1 is fuel saving mode. I really don't know why 3 is not typical, but I don't know why you'd not use 3? I'm not a Merc driver so I don't know really anything more to it. I'll do some reseach.

EDIT: from what i've read, 3 is usually good for sprint races and quali... but 2 is preferable for endurance races. So it sounds like you should leave it at 2. But it will be worthwhile to do test stints to see the difference over the course of an entire stint, if it earns an extra lap or two per stint. That would be pretty big. Will certainly test it this weekend.

Haven't thoroughly tested this, but i didn't notice a significant fuel saving or loss in either mode, nor a significant change in the cars speed. However, when upshifting in mode 3, too much torque causes the car to step out.

Either mode is fine if you don't upshift mid corner. You can also upshift earlier, which may be accomplishing the same effect as fuel map 2. Though not sure it works that way.

Like I said, it will have to be tested over an hour-long full stint to see the difference. In a sprint race I think there's no doubt about using 3 unless like you stated it doesn't matter to you all that much, but an extra lap per stint can make a big difference.

Either way, fuck the Mercedes for not having a throttle shape setting...

I haven't run anything expect map 3 before but I don't know why we should use anything else. If it reduces torque you lose potential speed (especially when racing an Audi) so a better way to stop wheel spin would probably be traction control or a lower differential pre-load (or lifting while upshifting).

It doesn't say that exactly. In most cars engine map 1 means full power so the tooltip says that having full power on map 3 is not typical. It's just inverted on the Mercedes, same as the traction control.
