iRacing announces Mercedes AMG GT3

iRacing on Linux/Mac are already pretty broken, they're just Wine wrappers and not native ports. I wouldn't be surprised if they phased out support for them completely. Not to mention the limited hardware support available on Mac/Linux. I've tried to run iRacing on my mac and the UI was horribly broken. Pretty much every discussion on Reddit/iRacing forums about running it on Mac suggests dual-booting.

I can't speak for either platform to be honest but given Gabe Newells conviction over how Microsoft is the bane of PC Gaming I'd expect things to only improve for Linux.

Honestly I don't really understand Mac and the push to get them in the loop and really Linux didn't make sense prior to Gabe flipping his lid.

I do know that major hardware vendors such as Intel and NVIDIA are 110% behind Gabe and doing all they can to support him, Steam machines and Steam OS.

I'm sure this is what fuels the most recent OpenGL vs DirectX debate.

Right now we're seeing PC Gaming in its infancy stages, branching out beyond what you'd consider a standard PC Gaming setup. Who knows what the next 5 years will bring but you have to admit, it's becoming more and more exciting to be a PC Gamer

I've seen the video, and a few similar ones. Pretty cool how they made some effort for us to get insight into their methods of design/engineering.

Regardless of the current 5 car/class limit, iRacing's effort to get GT3 racing going with many brands probably means that they will do whatever it takes to increase the car limit. With the Aston Martin and the Mercedes you're looking at a minimal of 7 GT cars (in 2 or more classes) on a track hopefully. Even if you're only looking at GT3 cars, it makes little sense for them to stop making virtual cars because of this current 5-car limit.

Agreed. iRacing has to know their limiting feature is their software, and they have no where to go but up.

Exciting times ahead for iRacing! Love the blancpain and amazed to see it grow from a small GT3 class it was a year or two ago. Just hope they really nail that Mercedes sound!

I hope they even get that amazing idle sound in there. Is that a V8?

The pictures I think are the old SLS AMG GT3. The 2015 looks even better (That is what is in the video)

I'm pretty sure it's a V8 yeah.

The old model looked nice too though. But I can't disagree, the new one looks very nice, especially the open grill.
