iRacing B2O Blancpain League Race Friday night Mar 18, 2016

To kick of this season of the iRacing B2O Blancpain League, this Friday night makes its debut at the warm and familiar track of Sebring in the Sunshine State.

The bumpy track is a staple in many series with its iconic layout and unforgettable sunset bend final turn. Consistency is key here as drivers who don't nail every turn get punished.

Practice Session starts at 7:30 PM EST spanning 1 hour and 40 minutes finishing off with a 20 minute, inverse grid, Qualify Race.

Main Race starts at approx 9:45 PM EST with 10 minute warmup and 50 minute Race.

Grid positions carry over from Qualify Race Results.

A mandatory Pit Stop is required within a narrow 5 minute Pit Window at the 25 - 30 minute mark to take on tires only.

Changes for S2:
There's only one change coming into S2: open setups. Anyone can run any setup they wish, provided it is shared on the forum or shared in the practice/race session. A driver may not keep the setup to himself and must provide it to any driver that asks.

Hope to see you all there!

I'll be there for the practice but the race is too late for me but that's probably a good thing for you guys. I'll be the one 4 seconds behind everyone else :p

Thanks for posting this Kyle, much appreciated!

I'll certainly be there but I'm still unsure of what car I'll be in? At this point in time I'm still very unsure of what I want to driver for the entirety of S2.

iRacing delaying BOP until next week isn't helping me much in this decision either.

I'll be there for the whole shebang. Sorry I wasn't around for Mon. and Wed. practice. After 368 laps on Sebring in two days, I needed a break. I think I'll be driving the BMW for this season. See you guys tomorrow!!

I'm staying with Merc for S2. It's what I feel most comfortable in no matter the damn BoP. I advise choosing a car based on comfort, not what fanboys say. Example, even with Macca allegedly fastest, I wouldn't race in it. Way too weird for me.

You know me Dino, I follow nobodies drum but my own.

I do enjoy the Mercedes but I'm far more comfortable in the BMW hence my dilemma.

Of course, I didn't mean to say Merc is best, just stating my own choice. Honestly, if Audi was a bit tamer, I might be in that, for sake of driving something else but front engined GTs :p

I do agree that the Front engine cars are a bit easier / tamer to drive but the setups I've been able to come up with for the Audi have made it a complete joy to drive. Some setups, and having the wrong setup, have resulted in some very frustrating moments. Ken you saw me trying to pit out with the wrong set up for like 20 minutes before i got really frustrated and figured out I was using the wrong one. Then it clicked and I was fast and planted.

Hi guys just signed up today on the forums. I found out about your site from Davey (From the Navy). We met last Saturday at Crimson Simulation in Norwalk.

I echo all of his sentiments, what an awesome experience and a cool guy that Naid is. Definitely worth a trip and some coin to go check it out.

I should be able to make tonight's event. I was wondering if it will be password and if so where could I find the password?

Second I saw the discussion about the open setups. Is there a place on the forums where people will store their setups? Unfortunately I don't have any setups really to provide for others at the moment I haven't done much driving in any of the GT 3's. I will be using the Porsche as it's the only GT three I currently own.

Regarding the sharing of setups I think it's a good idea especially to help others get up to speed faster and learn the cars characteristics. I was wondering if there is any way other than the honor system that you will use to ensure people are choosing to share the actual setup that they are racing?

The way I comprehend the current system in iracing, if someone asked for the other persons set up, they can select any setup from their setup folder and upload it. I'm not insinuating that anyone would do that, just that racing itself is super competitive, and as far as I know it is totally possible for someone to deceive everyone without having any real way to be accountable. However, I am new to iracing so I don't know if there is a way that you can or will be able to check/enforce this.

One other question, will there be official practice times during the week for us to get together to practice together for the Friday night events?

Looking forward to meeting some of you and see you on track!:)

I read the league rules and I really liked the format you guys created. Also checked out the practice pals thread sounds like a really good resource but there isn't any dates or times listed? I posted a longer response before this one with some questions about the league and format but it said it needed to be approved by a moderator first.

Hey SpeedLab, welcome to Band of Others.

I approved your post, not sure why it was moderated tho.

Anyway, good point about the PP times, i guess it's known among the regulars but not posted it seems. (or just hard to find)

As far as the league goes, you have to apply through the Iracing site and be accepted by one of the iRacing league admins.
Which shouldn't be a problem, seeing there is plenty of time left before the practice starts tonight.

Search for B2O or Practice Pals in the league browser and hit apply to league. In the white text box that follows just state that you've just registered on the website itself and add your forumname.

Don't worry about the setup sharing if you're new in GT3's it's for others that are using anything else than baseline.sto and currently there's mostly Mercs and Audi's so sharing wouldn't make sense anyway as you're in the Ruf :)

While racing we use Teamspeak3 which you can see in the block on the right hand side of the forum.
Feel free to join whenever you like, it's open for everyone, much like Duke's.... right, make sure u have fun!

It won't be password, it will be a league session that is exclusive to our iRacing league (so you must be a member of the league in iRacing)

Porsche might be tough to get setups for as we only have 1-2 drivers MAX, at least on our forums. You should be able to find some easily though on the iRacing forums.

Sharing setups will be based on the honor system, no other way to do it. But everyone is very honorable here, from how penalties and infractions are handled, to this sort of thing. A lot of people make tweaks as they go so they'd just have to continually share updates.

Usually people are good about sharing, depending on the series and driver. For GT3 you can get quite a few different setups on the forums. Check your respective car forum on the iRacing forum for a place to start.

There are official practice times during the week. Duke tries to do Practice Pals Mon and Wed evenings (evenings during USTZ) so if you're eastern we usually start around 7-8pm.

Hoepfully that helps.

Hey Kane glad you're able to join us for the league! And yes no body here is going to share a bad setup pretending it's the one they're using. Tonight should be fun! I think i got something decent in the works for the Mercedes (depending on what i need to tweak for the weather). If you haven't already been added to the league I'll send you an invite here in a few minutes.

I've seen Kane drive and although he's new to Iracing he's going to be a guy you regularly see battling for some top spots, very good respectful competitor so he's getting my full voucher into the league. You can tell the amount of years into R-Factor have transferred over very nicely. Will catch you on teamspeak and the track in about 2 hours!

Have fun tonight guys!

Yeah, season standings seem a bit wacked... Also, why did Justin get 2x 'Led One or More Laps' bonus point?
