iRacing Bathurst 12 hour hosted race

Pedals are fixed, duct taped the troublemaker and now it works (No more input spikes either :D). Bathurst is on!!!!
Nice one! Bets opened for when it all collapses? My guess is right when you go into the Dipper and are about to let the leading 2 McLarens and a BMW past :).

I'll be on practicing a driver swap with Jes at around 21:00 GMT. I'll probably do some practice as well today.

Hopefully that doesn't happen :O

Realistically though, the only pressure on the pontentiometer that makes it rotate is the 5 tiny pins sliding across it as the pedal is depressed, I doubt that's anywhere near enough force to loosen Gorilla Tape (Like Duct Tape but heavier duty).

It probably would've worked without the duct tape but their would've been a lot of inaccuracy because of the fact that it was rotating 15-30 degrees back and forth.

Did a full fuel stint at 43 minutes, Chris did a 44 minute stint, I'm guessing Ken would be closer to 42 minutes due to being faster. So with a 43 minute average stint time, and if each of us do two stints in a row each time we're in the car, this could be a possible schedule, the time being how far into the race it will approximately be when you driver change.

John - 1:26
Chris - 2:52
Ken - 3:18

John - 4:44
Chris - 6:10
Ken - 7:36

John - 9:02
Chris - 10:28
Ken - 11:54

I'm guessing that with pit stops, repair times, and general driving in traffic, we'll easily hit the twelve hour mark during Ken's second stint of his last run.

What happened Duke, did you get stung by a Moose? Get better!

Also, don't forget to change car number, wheel color etc. for the Kia. Jes pointed me to your new C-Spec paint, thanks, we're now using that for the race.

I've changed the setup a little bit. I feel it makes it more stable going into slow corners. It does introduce a little bit of understeer though.

To accomplish this I've increased the front compression stiffness and decreased front rebound. Also, I've lowered the high speed shock values by 2 all around, this makes it feel a little less snappy in my opinion.

Setup feels good! Ran my fastest lap (2:13:2) last night. Car is more stable with a slight bit more understeer. I feel more confident in letting the car slide and its much easier to recover and control any sliding. I'm very content with the current setup.

Had time to do about 3/4 stint yesterday in 46 degrees track weather. It felt pretty stable throughout, I was running some 11's, mostly 12's and a few 13's when I made mistakes.

I took a look at the tires and it was all positive. None of my tires had worn beyond 90% and the pressures were sitting at around 180 kPa, which is I think a pretty good value. If the weather is much colder we can up them a click or two.

Ken, I assume you are going to stream it? If so, Elliot would like a link so he can share it in the race thread on the iRacing forums.

Here is the final information sent to the team representatives:
Elliot Meme said:
Hello,

You are receiving this PM because you are the Team Representative for one or more entries in the Bathurst 12 Hour race being held on Feb 27 2016. The following contains important information about the race. Please pass this message on to all drivers and crews for your entire team. It is a lot of information, so it is important they see it before the session opens. PLEASE read this entire message very carefully. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask me, the sooner the better!

Important Reminders:
-Triple check to make sure that your team enters the correct car for the race and that all drivers register for the correct team. If you register the wrong car or register with the wrong team there is nothing I can do to fix it and you will be unable to race. It looks like a completely full grid, so one mistake could cause another team to not be able to enter. Please, please, please make sure you join the session correctly.
-Do not miss the drivers meeting please (your voice chat must be enabled for this, no exceptions)
-In the event iRacing has a major problem and the server shuts down, information about the possibility of a reschedule or full cancellation of the event will be posted to the original thread on the iRacing forum.
-Due to the nature of the mountain at Bathurst I highly recommend all teams bring a spotter to watch for crashes ahead of their drivers when on the narrow mountain section of the track.
-Drive responsibly; this is a long race. You can be officially protested in hosted sessions just like regular races; keep that in mind before you do something foolish.
-You may be down but never out; this is a long race on a dangerous track. 30 laps down at the halfway mark could result in a win after 12 hours if other teams have problems, you never know, so I hope all teams will stick with it until the end.
-This is supposed to be a fun event, so please, enjoy yourself!

Race Day Schedule:
1700-1825 GMT | Open Practice
1825-1840 GMT | Drivers Meeting
1840-1900 GMT | Single-Car Qualifying
1900-0700 GMT | Race (12 Hours)

The Day’s Events:
Practice: Open practice is available to all cars. Please be respectful of everyone practicing. “Pit parties” are allowed, but do not block parts of the track with large groups of slow moving cars; stage your pit parties in the pit lane only, and proceed out of the pits at normal pace as to not interfere with any drivers on track.

Drivers Meeting: All drivers MUST have voice chat enabled so they can hear the drivers meeting information. I will be broadcasting this information on the Race Control channel, so there is no excuse not to hear it. If any of your drivers do not speak English, please translate the information to them privately after I finish. Most of what will be covered in the drivers meeting will be quick reminders of information in this message. I would greatly appreciate it if no one is driving around the track during the drivers meeting so everyone can focus.

Qualifying: All teams will have 20 minutes or 4 laps (whichever comes first) to set a valid qualifying time. The driver who qualifies the car does not have to start the race.

Race: The race will be 12 hours in length. The start will be a rolling start behind the iRacing pace car. All cars may accelerate on the iRacing Green Flag. Please be aware that many cars will likely get the green flag while still in the final corner, so plan accordingly for that (turn up traction control setting, exercise caution, etc). It is a 12 hour race; getting to turn 1 before the car next to you will make no difference later on, so please respect one another on the opening laps. Cars that do not set a qualifying time will be gridded at the back of the field regardless of class. I highly recommend anyone who does not set a qualifying time to start from pit lane, but it is not mandatory.

Rules:
-All standard iRacing and FIRST rules apply as per the iRacing Sporting Code.
-During qualifying and the race it is appreciated if all public voice or text chat is kept to race essential chatter only.
-2 drivers must complete at least 1 racing lap for their car to be scored, 4 drivers maximum may drive the car.
-Local cautions only.
-Intentional wrecking of any kind is not allowed. I will remove you from the server immediately if I catch you doing it. Please do not take your frustrations out on other drivers; it is not fair to anyone in the race, guilty or innocent.
-If you have an off or a crash, it is your responsibility to re-enter the track safely. You must rejoin safely. Failure to do so will result in a penalty for the first offense, removal from the race on the second offense.

Traffic:
No one has the right of way based only on car class. All drivers must show mutual respect for each other. Mount Panorama has 4 very long, safe straights for completing passes, I recommend remembering this when overtaking as passing up on the mountain can be very hazardous to everyone.

Race Control Procedures:
If you feel you have been intentionally wrecked or have a serious issue with another team, please leave me a private text chat message with the car number and lap number. An example of how to do that is as follows: type all of the bolded part into the text chat /rc car xxx lap xxx replacing the x’s with the appropriate car number and lap number of the incident. I cannot sit at my computer for the full 12 hours to watch, but I will be regularly checking in and will investigate serious problems if required, and take any necessary action. However, do not abuse my generosity of allowing you to do this. A team that sends me a chat message for every bump and scrape will be removed from the server with or without warning. You should only be reporting intentional wrecking, not racing incidents, if you do not know the difference I suggest you withdraw your entry from the race. Any decision I make is final, do not argue or appeal to me. Be smart, drive safe, and you should have no issues. Do not spam me with silly complaints, I will not tolerate it. This has been a massive undertaking for me, many many many hours of my time, to put this event on for you and your team to enjoy, I ask that you please respect that fact when contacting me about race control related issues.

Session Information:
Finally, what you’ve really been looking for, how to join the session on race day!

Session Name: Bathurst 12 Hour
Session Password: *******************

Qualifying and Race Results:
Please allow up to 72 hours for me to post the final results to the iRacing forum thread. I will attempt to compile an easy to understand spreadsheet correcting for all 5 cars being split into 5 classes and combine them into the 3 respective classes. During that 72 hour period I also may need to review the replay footage to ensure everyone made the correct driver swaps, there was no cheating, etc. If you need me to look at something specific please contact me and if possible cut a very short replay just like you would submit in an iRacing protest to make my life easier.

Broadcast Information/Live Streamers/Post Race Videos:
PaddockTV, a partner of the Virtual Drivers by TX3 team who will field three cars in this event, has very generously offered to stream the race with French and possibly English commentary. I expect every single team to post in the race thread thanking both PaddockTV and the VD by TX3 team. They are doing this at no charge to me which is incredibly generous, especially for such a long event. You can find the details of the broadcast in the race thread or on PaddockTV’s website.

Planning on streaming the race from your computer? Awesome! If you provide me with a link to your live stream I will gladly post it in the original thread for the race for all to view. Anyone who wants to provide me with a link to their live stream or channel can do so before 1600 GMT on Feb 27th.

Planning on recording the race and putting up a video later? Great! Please send me the link when it is ready and I’ll be happy to add it to the threads so you can get some more views.

Final Thoughts:
I hope you’re excited for the race; I think it’s going to be a great time. Thank you to everyone who will be participating in this event. A special thank you to those who spent their hard earned money hosting practice sessions for the teams entered in the event, John King who has been putting together the paint pack which you will be able to download before the race, the VD by TX3 and PaddockTV teams, Just Fans of Racing Podcast for offering a prize for the class winners, and everyone else who has been involved in making this event happen on every level. All of it is very much appreciated. Once again do not hesitate to contact me with any questions or concerns you have prior to the event.

Sincerely, Elliot Meme

Wow nice tire wear, I'm lucky if I can have 70% after 40 minutes in the KIA, by lap 10 my tires are fried.

I'll be streaming the entire event as well.

I'm running 13's on a great lap, 14's good lap, low-high 15's conservative, 16-17 depending on the severity of the mistake.

@Noel, I have no idea how I should contact Elliot as I'm not a Team Rep and have not received the message you have?

Do I just PM him in the forums stating I'm in B2O KIA or what?

I get the iRacing mails since I signed the team up, not sure if that also means I'll be needing to register the team for the event.

It doesn't matter who registers (the session has practice, qualifying and race in one I believe). The one who qualifies also doesn't need to start.

I have messaged Elliot, Duke and sent him the stream link.
