iRacing Monday night league

Hello Gents,

Curious if there is any interest in running a Monday night iRacing league? Reason I mention having a Monday night league is b/c as much as I'd love to race with all of you on Friday nights, my work schedule doesn't allow it. I gather there may be others as well who may also have such a schedule or other obligations that prevents them from participating on Friday nights.

The Monday night league could simply mirror the GT3 league or be something totally different, such as the possibility of open wheel racing OR using only the free content to lower the barrier to entry. I know there is myself and others who do have paid content that we cannot use in an official iRacing race (part of the reason I have such content is b/c I can use it here with all of you e.g. during practice sessions).

If there simply isn't enough interest to warrant a Monday night league I can understand. Just throwing it out there to see if anyone is interested and if this would be something worth pursuing.

Lastly, if there are those who do currently race on Friday nights and would be interested in taking part on Mondays' as well, we don't have to mirror the Friday night league.

Cheers,

-Doc

I like the idea of running another league as long as it doesn't conflict with our main league. There's nothing stopping you from putting one together. It is quite a commitment to get it together and keep it organized.

I think we ran V8SC league (through GRAsim) on Mon or Tuesday, and personally I dislike league racing that early in the week. I've gotten better but it's tough for a lot of people to race with so little practice. It gets to be where you're practicing next week's track the week before.

That said I might be interested. Depends on what is decided upon. My advice is to try and decide on what you want to run.

I couldn't do a Monday. The only reason I can do a Friday is because I don't have to get up for work on the Saturday so I can at least join in the practice and the qualifying race before it gets to silly o'clock. The time zones are just too far apart unfortunately.

Totally understandable little P. Trying to put something together on a Monday is a shot in the dark really. But I'll never know unless I put it out there. ;)

If I had my druthers, I'd shoot for an open wheel league. The downside of course is it would require participants to purchase content if they don't already own it. I'm thinking the Star Mazda or Renault 2.0 as a good entry point.

Good points on racing early in the week Daunt. I guess it would require practicing said tracks the week prior. But in my case, and as may be the case with others, that would be our only option. Though the cars would be different, another option is we could mirror the Friday night tracks for what its worth.

Hi Doc,

I understand given your schedule reasoning behind moving the League to Monday but unfortunately Friday came up as the day when most people were available.

The timeframe took ages to finally solidify and only just recently became the 7:30 PM EST race time again to satisfy the timetable of a Current League Member.

Given the fact we're essentially a Global Gaming Community the Friday night timetable was utilized to allow our "over the ponders" an opportunity to race with us and sleep in on Saturday.

A Monday night League is something we can possibly entertain in the future but not until such time as the Friday night League is regularly populated and a success on it's own.

From a B2O perspective we are simply not in the position to populate and maintain 2 Leagues/week, we don't have the Drivers nor the Staff to regulate it.

I'm very open to putting a new timetable to a vote but if we lose even 1 Driver to the proposed timetable I'll be forced to veto said vote.

...I hope you can understand.

Understood and well put. Thanks for getting back on this so quickly. I'll keep this on the back burner for now. I'm hoping in the future we can take a look at something like this again down the road.

**EDIT**

Duke, re-reading your initial response, I'm a little confused. You do know I'm talking about a separate league correct? More or less for those of us that cannot partake in the Friday night GT3 league. Not moving the current Friday night league to Monday. Just want to make sure we're on the same page. ;)

Just throwing this out there, if you did put one together I agree with Kyle that it's hard practicing for a race if you're following the iracing schedule. Only way i see work around that is race whatever track it is before the switch over. That way you have the whole week before and the weekend to practice. Don't think I'll be able to run full races because of my schedule Monday nights usually just busy with practice pals.

However wouldn't mind something separate from GT3 being created, IMO been getting annoyed with this class besides Friday Nights. I love racing with all you guys and would love to run other things then GT3 but that's a whole other can of worms I really don't feel like getting into.

Ah shoot! I forgot about Mondays being practice. Well either way I'll stick to keeping it on the back burner for now. Thanks for all your responses guys.

Sorry Doc I was mixing 2 responses in 1 post and trying to cover all the bases in my response.

I was responding as if there were 2 potential scenarios, 1 being moving our existing League to a new day or 2, creating a new League.

I was thinking of hosting some PP during euro early evenings, just a couple of B2O cars on track in a hosted session to see if we can draw in some europee-on attention.

However this won't have any influence on the league except for the drivers that might want to join.

Good idea. I'm up for this :icon_cool:

I think unless you have at least ten drivers for sure, you should just organize a time slot where you all drive the official race together. Not exactly the same thing but you could even keep track of points totals that way amongst you all too.

When you say, 'official', race, I assume you mean an iRacing sanctioned race? If thats the case, I'm a little confused going about it that way.

I've heard people having issues trying to race with friends, but ending up in different splits. I've seen Duke stream what looks to be an official race with others from B2O, how are you guys able to do this? (or maybe I've seen it in a couple of his youtube vids)

Even if we could find a way around it, those interested would still have to be eligible for the race, e.g have the requisite license.

i will open up the can of worms then.... A euro league driving euro evenings, not 3 am at night, doing Lotus 79 at the biggest and fastest F1 tracks like Spa, Suzuka, Watkins ... How is that for a can of worms, this means Doc, u will be racing around noon or afternoon, if this is the case, count me in. I think there is a potential for all the europe people in B2O but i am not sure how many actually racing or want to commit to a league. Also Doc, don't forget its a lot of admin work.
