iRacing Setup Thread

Also, don't be afraid to use dat wing at Road Atlanta. I don't know what you're using but I've been talking to somebody who uses 4 wing in the race and if he sets it to 2 he finds it really dangerous to drive. If your goal is to keep up with the McLarens and Rufs on the straight then you probably won't make it through a stint.

I tried wing values between - 2 and 2 which was likely a good part of the problem.

The other issue though was getting the car to settle out of corners which I knew would be an issue at the top of the hill (turn 2?) but couldn't figure out why it was so shitty coming out of the esses?

This is a really tough course to setup for.

I'm using wing 2 for the same reason Noel mentioned. I make too much time in corners to care for the back straight. And the car is nice and planted. I did another 27 lap test to see, and it's pretty neat to have lap times stay between 21.4 and 21.7 without any sort of pushing. Just a Sunday cruise.

Take a look at my replay file. I'm really wondering why you're having all those issues you're mentioning because I'm not even close to any of that, it's just a joy. If you'll stream tonight, I'll take a look and see, I have a feeling you're just overdriving the car.

I don't think I'm overdriving the car Dino, your set just does not work for me. I have no idea how you can say it's planted because it's the exact opposite for me? It feels loose and unstable to me, sorry.

I'm glad it works for you but it just doesn't for me and no amount of your insight into the matter is going to change that.

Kyle, I ran a full stint on your set first time out. I wasn't the fastest in the server but managed an average laptime of 1.20.669. Tire wear was pretty good too and pretty consistent across the board.

I wasn't watching the time though so I have no idea how I did on fuel? I ran 44 laps and pitted in with 0.4 litres remaining. I ran pretty much the entire stint without draft and on my own.

We might have to do a bit of lifting. Did anyone confirm if fuel buddy well work if you're the spotter of the team car?

Glad to hear the set worked well

No it doesn't. But F boxes do, so track fuel like that on same spot on track. I do it at SF line and made excel sheet.

Car: McLaren MP4-12C GT3
Track: Brands Hatch
Type: Race (118 Litres)
Season: 2015 - S04
Properties: I mainly tried to keep the understeer to a minimum while keeping the balance. This being a McLaren, it will understeer but I feel it still turns in pretty well even in hotter weather.

I cranked the wing up all the way to 9 because, you know, corners. It feels pretty planted and there isn't much straight to lose time on anyway.

EDIT: Setup updated with Davey's changes.

Here are the laps (starting lap 13) from a stint I've done earlier today with a fair amount of traffic. Weather was 36 degrees track, partly cloudy and 53% humidity.

Kyle I really tried to like your setup but just couldn't get there. It was understeering badly for me and then would all of a sudden snap to oversteer often for me in Turn 3.

I adjusted tire pressure, damping and diff preload rear and was finally able to run consistently again.

If you're dead set on running it tomorrow you'll need to get on early because I can't run your set so we'll have to find a middle ground.

Also, Quadro wants to join us tomorrow and was putting down nice consistent laps tonight for the several hours we were on.

It'll be nice to have him because I don't want to run 2 stints tomorrow, my SR is going to be in the shitter from 1 :icon_redface:

Hey Noel I made a small change to your setup, RF Camber i took to 2.1 degrees Since it's primarily a right turning track the Outside Temp was Staying pretty cool. Not much of a change but felt a little bit more stable on right hand turns and kept tire wear more even across the tire. Just something you might want to test out before the race. Last session my fastest lap was a 1:24.7 have been getting good pace this morning. See ya in a few hours

What are you talking about my setup? The BH setup? That was literally the same one we agreed upon when we went over it the other night...

Alright, sounds like a good improvement. I will do a few laps before the race to test it out but I assume it won't make much of a difference driving wise. Nice to hear you found some pace, all we need to do now is try to prevent Mr. McLarry from killing us and avoid the chaos of traffic.

No it is not. It is different from the setup I've been running all week long.

At no point in the entire week was I running 34 tire pressure and that low of diff preload so you got it confused somewhere because this set is vastly different to what I've been running.

I say that I was sabotaged. By a faulty save. You know how volatile those saves are. haha mr "I saved it as a final for sure!"
