Is Wolfgaming finally done?

Not to beat a dead horse and not that anyone around here cares but I've noticed the last week that the website has been offline. Kinda been waiting for this day for a few years as traffic dropped to nil with nothing more than a few mumblings of some old cranky FH diehards.

However, it's been bittersweet though watching the "dream" fall totally apart by two complete morons that let greed destroy something that was pretty neat at one time. Good riddance.

Finally some sort of closure on it.

They should have given us full control back in the day. Never mind.

I noticed the same thing as well this week but kept forgetting to post about it.

I rarely if ever check that sh1th0le but this past week had me checking daily, no idea why? I'm glad to see it gone personally and think it's long overdue.

I do owe Rob some thanks though because he showed me how not to run a website. The guy was thankless, greedy and could care less about the people helping make his site successful and even though he doesn't own it anymore, I'm glad none of it ultimately worked out for him.

I noticed that WolfServers is still up though. I wonder how long that will last?

BTW, sorry for my demeanour but I've never met anyone online I've had less respect for than xxxGiJoe.

I just try to think of the fun i/we had and the friends i made there .

QFT.

And as a note: I wasn't around during the big fallout and don't really know what happened, but I got along with Rob quite well.

You know the ironic thing was, when Joe came back and then Rob followed shortly after when I contacted him to find out wtf Joe was doing we actually had a positive balance after paying off all the webserver and gameserver costs to the tune of over 800 USD (Paul could tell you exact numbers). That was members paying support subscriptions and nothing else.

For the first time ever WGN was a self supporting gaming community, it was what Rob always wanted and we'd got it working. Within a few months of them both coming back, kicking out all the guys who'd nurtured that and set it up leaving that heartsmasher nub to look after it, they completely undid that all that work and its been dying ever since.

I suspect they might have seen the paypal account which might have spurred them on. I had no issue with the owners wanting it all to be self sufficient but...the way Joe talked to Paul and Thad and then Rob back him up, the complete unjustified attack on both of them at both a professional and personal level was disgusting. They should have been thanking both of them, offering them a stake in WGN at a financial level. Especially Paul who poured himself into getting that place on an even keel and making it self sufficient. Ultimate respect for that guy.

Just to clarify, Joe was the voice of Rob; at no time did Rob ever not know nor was he not in on what what was happening at Wolf. Yes Joe came across as a total pr1ck but Rob didn't have the backbone to do what THEY were doing.

I conversed with Joe tirelessly prior to their return and although I didn't agree with what they were doing, I did try and help settle both sides during their return.

There was just no chance for an amicable solution. There was just too much time, emotion and even finances invested from a Member standpoint and no flexibility or understanding from an owner standpoint.

In the end, Wolf is a product of their own creation and it is where it is for a very good reason.

I wish I'd known that back then that Rob and Joe had actually planned all of that. The only reason I can comprehend why they did what they did is we once asked Rob what the deal would be to buy the rights of WGN off him or at least give the red guys 99% access to WGN since he showed no interest in it any more and he was a bottleneck at that stage, which was why we asked in the first place.

We could have actually made the guy some money had he just talked to us.

Rob is a greedy pig and was from the get go. The reason nobody saw it was because he was robbing bandwidth from his day job to run the gaming servers.

Once he lost that job, the end was pretty much in sight. His personality changed almost overnight and he started chastising the Staff for "not doing enough" or "not putting in enough effort". Remember that sh1t?

He was p1ssing and moaning about the news page yet he had the lowest amount of submissions and EVERY SINGLE ONE of his articles had to be heavily edited just to be legible or make some semblance of sense. I spend more time re-writing his crap that I did researching, writing, editing and publishing my own articles and everyone else's combined.

I don't know how may times he went off on some rant in the Staff Room over mis-information or general stupidity but I assure you, it's more than I care to remember.

He should have sold you guys the site but he couldn't because the site was the foundation of WGN, not Wolfservers as he intended. Rob expected Wolfservers to be his path straight into bed with EA and who knows what else?

From a Webmaster/Site Owner POV, the only thing I can understand is that Rob didn't want to sell Wolfgaming.net. At the time, the url was worth about $1000.00 USD (if I remember correctly) and for anyone whose invested the time, money and passion into building and maintaining a website, domain worth is never enough by a long shot.

If I were Rob, I would have taken into account the work you guys did to make the site the success it was. I would then monetize it a bit to see what kind of ad revenue it could bring in and then discuss either a partnership or full buyout.

He made it personal and thought he could bring down the thunder without doing any damage to Wolfgaming. What he failed to consider is that the Community had changed (for the better) and all he was doing was digging up skeletons from his closet and asking that we deal with them.

I've been online a long time now and have had the distinct pleasure of getting to know you fine people but of all the morons I've met online, Rob is easily the biggest @ss clown I've ever had the displeasure of running into.

d@mm1t I think I need anger management therapy because of that @ss cl0wn lol.

I think what winds me up so much personally is the day I finally told Rob to go F*$! himself was a day they begged me to come onto TS for a "Management Meeting". That in itself would not have been such a big issue if the time they were borrowing didn't happen to coincide with my daughter being with me.

I still remember this sh1t3 as if it happened yesterday.

I need a hug. :icon_rolleyes:

The funny thing is that I never check to see how Wolf is doing. I think I have more recently mostly because many of us are finding each other online again but that would be the only reason.

I have no idea why I've been checking it so much the past few weeks because it's completely out of the ordinary for me.

BTW, if you type Wolfgaming in Google.com, this topic is #2 and Wolfgaming.net has disappeared all together.

They even got into Twitter! I'm surprised they didn't do facebook. lol Oh well, Joe/Anubis was an interesting sort of character, to say the least. And yes there was somewhere around $1800 to $2000 in the account when I got the boot that went strait into someone's pocket. No biggie, had some good times, made some great friends. Just wish we could get everyone back together in one place again.

I too have not hit that url in years. I noticed GIJoe poked his head in there once or twice after the aftermath over the years.

Just an FYI, we have Twitter, Facebook and hope to start regularly populating YouTube shortly.

One show I hope we can run semi-regularly is the Psychological Gamer where we discuss in depth, deep, thought provoking and/or controversial topics.

...with a heavy n00b spin on it of course.

There will be an announcement soon so stay tuned.

You are definitely one of the poster children for whom I think should be there.

I'm just working on some graphics right now and hope to have them finished shortly. Then I'll outline in detail what the show is about, how long the episodes should be and we'll vote on our very first topic.

All elements I post on will be up for discussion so we'll decide as a Community what would make the best program and go from there.

I can say for sure though, one of the most important prerequisites of this program is to be a n00b, hopefully an imaginative one, with a sense of humor.

He got a BF3 server and tried to reignite WGN, sent out emails and what not to try and rekindle it all. Last I heard he cancelled the server as it just sat empty.

Even the FH community, which to be honest I thought was our undoing, hasn't noticed.

I guess he finally just decided not to renew the payment for the domain.
