Looks pretty tough for an out lap. I hope it's not JUST the GTP's struggling like this. Should make pitting out more interesting, though. No more watching someone pit out in front of you and then immediately starting to battle with them. Going to require patience from the driver on warm tyres to know they're on better tyres, and set up a propper pass, and patience from the driver pitting out to not throw the race away trying to race for the spot immediately.
Something a lot of iRacers will be too stubborn, or stupid, to figure out. I'll be curious to see what weaving starts to look like. We already have seen it in-sim on pace laps, to debatable results. If you watch opening laps, or restarts, in IMSA/WEC/AsLMS, etc, all of the prototypes spend a good portion of the opening laps aggressively weaving on straights, not to block or defend, but to warm the tyres. It will be interesting to see if iRacers adapt to this strategy as well? How many iRacers are going to whine and cry about the weaving, and how many iRacers are going to 0-iq crash other people due to the weaving? And will we see drivers exercising restraint the opening lap so that it's "Race On" after lap 2-3?
The most encouraging thing I heard was Jimmy saying there IS grip at low speed. That's my biggest frustration with rain, currently, and what I was worried about for this update. Sometimes is seems there isn't any grip at ANY speed, and that just doesn't make sense to me. The car has weight, and the tyres should have some level of grip at a lower speed, especially in the dry.
Bottom line, it's just going to be a focus on getting out of the pits, being smooth, and not over-driving the car. If you lose time, or lose positions, it is what it is. Everyone can only do what they can do. Anything is going to be better than going off the track.
iRacing also needs to give a clear and concise heads-up to drivers when they're approaching a car that has just pit out. I'm not holding my breath, though...
And what's up with that Yellow "Surface Hazard" flag? Is it just grass on the track? Are cars going to actually start leaking fluid after a crash? Is this why we're going to be getting FCY's? Are they going to start modelling Speedy-Dry, and the time it takes to put it down? I'm looking forward to the 45 minute barrier repair red-flag update...
