Thread for talking about our battle for balancing new cars into the GT3. Will be a fun challenge bringing in the two beasts to GT3, something that will make racing very exciting, I'm sure of.
From the looks of it, we're able to add up to 551 lbs of weight to the cars. I am not sure but I doubt it can be a negative number. Would have to ask iRacing if it is possible to reduce weights as well.
I've been seaching on the forums or whatever to see if this has been attempted and it seems it has (I imagined it had). They said weight is not enough to balance the Corvette (haven't found anything on the Caddy). Here's a quote from a very relevant thread, including someone saying it has been tried:
Here's another very interesting overview of the topic. This is a bit of an older post but it is still obviously relevant. Basically goes to show that we'll need to more than slap weight on.
Not saying it cannot be done. Nothing more I'd like to try and do. But we'll definitely need all the help we can get, especially from iRacing. I think, as we talked about last night, that means fixed series is a must.

The Corvette would still have much more effective downforce, braking and grip
so, to balance it and result in the same laptime than the McLaren for example,
it would have to be slower in the straights, and then you finish with the mess that we had at the end of S4/12 in the GT Challenge where the old Ford was faster on straights, slower on brake/cornering than the 12C for the same lap time
For a quali it's allright, for a race it's terrible.
To make it works not only HP and weight on such different regs cars have to be changed but also aero and key parts like braking material and assistance (braking, as they're all suppose to have TC already), and tires size.
I'm one of those that is really missing a proper "GTR2 grid" with all those different cars (Le Mans syndrom)
but if it's not made properly, it will be 2 or 3 days before only one of the car be populated. I4m really willing to lobby a bit when the Z4 is about to come so it's not messed. So much potential on multicar in official series, they better get it right before it's released.
