Medal of Honor: Airborne

So, I picked this up for cheap during Origin's sale recently...but I can't get it to actually run. Every time I try to launch the thing, it opens a new window that prompts me to enter my email and password, then says "Cannot connect to server. Please try again in a few minutes."

Apparently, this was a known issue as recently as last weekend, and Origin said "Oh, we fixed that." Except, you know, they didn't. Anyone have a similar problem, and if so, did you ever manage to resolve it? And if so, how?

I haven't picked up a Medal of Honor game since they switched from World War 2 to Modern Warfare.

Haven't that franchise been laid to rest in favor of CoD and Battlefield?

Yeah, EA has tried to resurrect it a few times. It did so with Airborne (a WWII one) in the mid 2000s, then relaunched with the modern warfare "Medal of Honor" and "Medal of Honor: Warfighter" games. I got "Medal of Honor" for free and it was...eh...ok. I just picked up Airborne and Warfighter on sale for a total of $6. I figured that was worth it (although I'm rethinking Airborne if I can't even get it to run...).

Honestly, I always kinda thought that Medal of Honor and CoD were basically just clones of each other, only with CoD focusing on multiple characters/nations, whereas MoH just took one character through a single war. Allied Assault and Spearhead were decent in their day, though.

And to be clear, I only do these for the SP games. I don't bother with MP.

I couldn't agree more about the SP vs MP aspect of these games. If I remember correctly, MOHAA had some Saving Private Ryan moments to it and was a terrific SP experience.

Incidentally, if the game won't run for you have you considered contacting EA Tech. Support and logging the complaint? My guess is that it won't help one little bit to get it running but should be good enough to get a refund (or at least game credit) for.

The old Medal of Honour games were great single player experiences. The beach landing on one of them (can't remember which one) took my breath away back in the day.

I had this with Watchdogs recently, eventually it fixed itself. No help whatsoever to you I know, but Origin is squiffy at the best of times. If no help I'd log a ticket at Origin. To be fair they have been quite helpful when I've had to do it in the past, to the point of refunding me the cost of BF4 when a live support advisor and I couldn't fix something...

I got it sorted by looking around online. Origin didn't do shit to help me. This is why I don't buy their games at full price anymore.

Basically, this involved setting up a POGO account to create an EA legacy account, then linking it to my EA account, so that the game could verify itself. All of which is idiotic, considering the Origin client is supposed to handle all this. I don't have these problems with Steam or Ubisoft.

--EDIT--

And the MOH game you're thinking of with the beach landing was Allied Assault. It was AMAZING and basically impossible to do in a single life, which really brought home how insane the beach landings at Normandy were. For what it's worth, I THINK you can get a DRM-free version of MOH:AA and its two expansion packs from GOG.com for, like, $3.00 during their summer sale (which is happening now). So, if you want to relive that old single player experience, it's available for cheap and with no Origin hassles.

Happy to be of service!

Just to be clear, I would NOT get it on Origin, since you'll have to deal with their annoying DRM. But on GOG, all their games are DRM-free, or at least provide you with the copy protection (e.g., old DOS games with manual-based copy protection that my friends and I would bypass by photocopying the manuals).
