MS FSX sale on Steam

I saw this yesterday and had a quick look. I was going to pick it up as it's so cheap but then I saw it's something like 10 years old? The plane models look good but the scenery etc. looks very dated...

What are your thoughts?

I was looking more for a photorealistic simulator, even the interiors look very blocky and low res.

Is it worth it or is it worth paying more for something with better visuals, and what would you suggest? (flying jumbo's etc.)

MS FSX still has a huge modding community since there's never been a sequel or replacement. There's a lot of free content available, also to make the scenery and terrain look better. Some of it is paid as well though.

That's what I was hoping someone would say. Can you use these mods on the Steam version though?

How does this compare to DCS or I have been looking at Xplane, the visuals look good on that too.

Anyway, have you been looking around for planes, choppers and sceneries yet?

I know the last time i did it i spend a shitload of time just looking for models.

It'd be fun to do some display formation flying with an A380

Went for X-Plane 10 in the end, the graphics looked better to me. First thing I did was barrel roll a 747.... into the ground.

I have no idea what I'm doing in this but damn it looks good (taking off at night in a 747 looked pretty damn good)
