New Cars in iRacing: Dallara LMP2

Been waiting a while for iRacing to replace the HPD with something more modern and it is here in the shape of the Dallara P217 LMP2!
I Bought this earlier and went for a quick practice and a race at Daytona.
The LMP2 felt just like I hoped, fast and fuss free like the HPD (a bit faster though I think!) with similar handling and the new feeling of the LMP1 cars.
So if you are looking for something that is high down-force but without all the electronic management of the LMP1 cars then you could do a lot worse than this new beast! The baseline setups that come with the car are not too bad either!
Here is my 20 minute race (it was a bit of a mess at the beginning but what can you do? :D)

I bought it as well, but haven't had a chance to try it yet.

The McLaren MP4-30 got a huge upgrade. It's a ton more grippy and way less of a death trap now. Been having a lot of fun driving that now that it feels like an actual formula car and not a snap oversteer mess.

It would be nice to see the F1 car get a lot more participation, I think the races are about an hour so a decent length too.
I don't think you will be disappointed with the LMP2 car Matt.
I didn't get the Corvette though as I really didn't need another GTE car, at the moment the C8-R sounds a bit like a broken vacuum cleaner so I really hope the sounds are just a place holder! I am interested in how it drives though so if anyone here gets it then please let us all know!

I have it, but haven't driven it yet. Second hand, from a buddy I drive with who also loves GTE's, he says the C8-R drives like a dream....but really all GTE's do now. The major aero update they did has made all the GTE's wayyyyy more grippy. So I'm not sure the C8-R is just better, so much as the updates across the GTE class have just made all the cars feel better.

I've driven the Ferrari since the patch, and can confirm, it feels really grippy. The new default setups split across downforce levels are actually pretty okay, though they still absolutely lean towards being understeery and too bouncy on the shocks, they are at least good starting points now based on the kind of down force levels you need for a track.

I think Nejt has convinced me to purchase the LMP2. I really like the looks of the Vette, but considering I have both the Porsche and Ferrari already it probably doesn't make much sense to own it especially if all the GTE's feel good to drive.

Ok just tried the car out at Road Atlanta. Holy moley is that car cool as heck. Sounds fantastic and despite my lack of pace it's pretty fun to drive. Only thing I couldn't figure out is why my rearview camera wouldn't turn on despite having the maximum number of mirrors turned on.

It doesn't have a rear view TV screen...
Yeah some reading in the forums made me aware of that. It sure LOOKS like a rear view screen. Guess I better put on the virtual mirror.

I really like the sound of this car and the feel at the wheel. I'm going to end up getting absolute waxed in races with it though. (Although that happens in most things I race. LOL)
