New "Surround" Monitor Suggestions

Man Zac......shame you couldn't get in on the 27" Gsync deal that was out about a year ago on the ACER XB270H's where they could be had for about $400 each. I bought mine at that price and they were WELL worth the investment IMHO.

@Deb, I looked up the Dell again.. list price is $700 (on par with most Gsync. Gsync is just too far out of my range, unfortunately..
Zac, Amazon has this monitor for as little as $549.
Dell Gaming S2716DG 27.0" Screen LED-Lit Monitor with G-SYNC

It's $649 at Walmart so seems like a good deal on Amazon. Free shipping if you have Prime.

Alright, well I'm taking your word for it then and canceled my other monitors. I have to wait til Tuesday, though, so if you guys want to witness my horrible bad luck, watch the price go up or it becomes unavailable before Tuesday, and I'm SoL.. LOL

Do you need 3? I hope that doesn't happen, that would suck. I checked this morning and they are still the same price, there is an addition of one vendor that has them for $539, but not sure how much shipping. I think they are worth the wait if you can get a decent price.

I think you are making a good choice Zac.

Gsync really is a great thing and it helps BIG time if you are not running the latest and greatest hardware capable of pushing huge frame rates. For example I have a 980 card (not a ti) and with most options on high or at least medium I can run on most tracks anywhere between 60 and 130 fps (my cap) and the difference between those are indistinguishable. Heck, I've even had games (DCS World.....cough cough) where the frames on 3 monitors dip into the 20's and you'd never notice it because gsync keeps things nice and smooth.

Alright, most of the anxiety and drama is over! Monitors are ordered and should be here end of this week or next.. Even managed to get them $8 each cheaper.. they'll probably come UPS so, if they come Saturday or Monday, the UPS guy can just leave them in out in the hallway for everyone to walk past:mad:. They wont be small enough for him to hide..

Anyways, thanks again for your help!

Well, here it is, FINALLY...

Tomorrow will be cable management day, because fuuuuuuuck this 4plays monitor stand was a pain in the ass to put together. 80/20 sounds good on paper, and it IS super adjustable, but what they don't tell you is you have to make all your adjustments before assembly. If you put it together and need to adjust something, you're probably going to have to take it back apart again to make one little adjustment and see if it worked. There are a few places this, 4Plays especially, could have been a whole lot easier. Most of my problems were getting the legs parallel. It also would have been easier if I had room to assemble it elsewhere, and then put it over the rig, but I had to build it around the rig, and it was pretty miserable.

Oh well. Its put together.

@Deb Could I get you to screen shot your iRacing Options menu, especially the graphics tab, for me? Are you running iRacing at 7680x1440? Currently iRacing is maxing out at 22fps at CotA, DESPITE what resolution I run the game at (Yes, even at 738p).

Somehow, 22fps on triples is still easier than 80+fps on a single monitor at CotA!

Hey Marc, that may have been a pain in the ass to put together, but it looks great. 80/20 is definitely not super intuitive initially, but once you get he hang of things it's like adult Legos and you can just start bolting on items as necessary. Curious, is the 4th monitor mount from 4Play as well? I have a few 24" monitors lying around after going to these 27" gsyncs and have considered doing a 4th monitor much like you have yours. My only reservations are the potential FPS hit within iracing and lack of an extra plug outlet :)

One of the graphics options is broken for some hardware atm , i think it is shadow volumes, or shadow "something", only two to choose from , but you will know the instant you turn it off it is a problem for you as you will get all your frames back and lose barely any detail.

Zac, that looks awesome! I am at Disney World right now, be back Saturday. Can't recall what setting, messed around with it for awhile. But I get fps generally over 100 often over 200 except at the Ring. I will look when I get home. I think I have all enabled with a 980ti, but will check that also and let u know.

No worries, Deb. I think I've got it figured out thanks to this thread! Appears to be an issue with the NVIDIA Control Panel and trying to run G-Sync in "Fullscreen and Windowed", but changing it to "Fullscreen Only" and then changing the game settings to "Fullscreen and Windowed" in NVIDIA Inspector raised me from 22fps locked to 50fps unlocked in Sniper Elite running border-less window mode!

Enjoy!
