Do you know in approximately which split you guys are driving and which time slot?
We'll be in the same time slot as you - which is 9am eastern here. (1300 GMT or whatever?) All our drivers are around 2500 iRating, give or take 100 (total 5 drivers) with one being close to 3k. So probably a 3rd or 4th split if I had to guess but maybe lower.

Hi everyone,

I am Richard, introduced by Bedo already a bit. Looking for a bit more serious team so this looks like a good fit for the Nurb 24h.I am happy with how the schedule looks!
Hey Richard glad to have you with us! Nice turning a couple laps with you the other day. You and Bedo are impressively quick! Thanks for helping out.

Davey, can you make us admins in the iRacing team? Otherwise we can't sign up for practice sessions / qualifying sessions.
All set. Good timing.

I like the schedule we have now I just feel bad about Incndry only having two stints. It seems more of us are around in the morning but I'll get in touch with him and see how he feels or if he is around later on to maybe take my 2am (EST) time I'd have no problem with that.

Really sorry to hear about it. I thought mine was bad - some absolute moron, right after turning onto the Nordschleife on L1, spun out. Rather than waiting for a few cars to pass he full reversed right into my path (I had already slowed significantly) and there was nothing I could do. I protested him... I think my first protest ever. I usually let racing incidents slide and am very lenient, especially when the driver shows remorse. But this crap annoys the hell out of me.

But losing / breaking hardware is much worse. How long did you have it?
I got it last August.

Sorry for not being around last night. Construction crew next door nicked my cable (internet) line, and it wasn't fixed 'til early this morning..

Did some IMSA races yesterday though, just to get more track time on the 'Nords' (layout is slightly different; it includes the Mercedes Arena) but I think the principle to me is still pretty clear..

My vote is on a 13 second 'Start from the Pits Penalty' on this one...

That clearly is not a fix all, as I'm sure we won't be the only one starting from the pits and we may still have to avoid incidents (like I had to with the DP). The downside obviously will be starting behind the slow classes, but it is just an early start on what we'll be dealing with all race and I still think that risk is better then getting taken out in turn one.

Your videos are Private, Zac.

I'm not sure if I agree with starting from the pits. First of all we lose a competitive edge which is not that important over 24 hours though.

The major downside to me is that we would have to fight through battling Mazdas on lap 1 most likely, which is dangerous and would cost us a lot of time. If we were the slowest class that wouldn't be an issue but we're not.

That said, we would probably start somewhere in the middle of the C-specs but I doubt anyone of them (in 1st-2nd split) would do anything really silly at the start of the race.

I think of all races, this race is the worst to start from the pits because of traffic. You'd be better off not qualifying and gridding at the very back, as the Audi or Ruf. Just my opinion.

It might just force you into the pits after you're gridded anyway because iRacing. o_O

Sorry, apparently twitch thinks "Unlisted" = "Private"

Yeah, I hear the traffic, but like I said, we'll be dealing with that all race vs T1 lap 1 is a one time *potential* clusterfuck, and it would suck to get 20 minutes of repair out of it. Also, the nice thing about the GP circuit is that we might be able to clear most of it before the end of the GP circuit, and remember that the field will be spread out by class, so the Mazda's might not even be to pit out when we pit out. My incidents weren't even intentional dive bombs, just two different mistakes.. Just my two cents. Bottom line I say it'll be up to the driver that starts the race.

I've uploaded our paint to the Broadcasters. So if by any chance we get into the top split we should have a working paint somewhere at least :D.

Oh yes, I certainly agree with you that T1 + T2 on lap 1 are going to be quite dangerous unless you're starting last in class.

However, I'm sure that by the time we catch the Mazdas (which will be ~1 hour in) they will have spread out, as opposed to lap 1 when they are all clustered up.

Incidentally, Marc, it looks like at the start of your first stint you'll be the first one to get caught by GT3s. Good luck :).

Wow, that first one, what an idiots. They must have stepped straight from GT3 into the C-Spec and used the same braking point.

Looks like we have a driver that has a 3800 iRating. Still not as high as you so who knows if it will be the same split but that's likely who will register the team. Oddly enough, he's one of our slowest drivers (despite being reliable)... not sure if he doesn't normally drive the Audi, if he's new to the Ring and/or he recently had a break from iRacing. Or maybe he's just sandbagging to make us feel good.

Meanwhile, 7 Kias have qualified, over a time range of 29 seconds :p.
Up to 12 Kias last I looked! I am really surprised by the number of Mazdas that I've almost ran over in the practice sessions.

Also, looking at your schedule... I think this was also a mistake we made during the 24h of Daytona. Registration for the race ends obviously at 1300 GMT, but there's a 30 minute warmup before the race begins. The race effectively begins at 1330 GMT.

So your first driver swap won't really occur until close to 1430 GMT (assuming 1 hr stint, though I think the C-spec has shorter stints)

That's a lot of Kias! We were discussing yesterday how most of the splits will probably have very few Kias or none at all.

We know there is half an hour of warm-up, it's more of a relative schedule. On the fuel chart it is accounted for.

The C-Spec does normally have less than hour-long stint but if we fuel save just a little bit we can shave off 3 pit stops.

Would be really cool if we could get into the same split. If my iRating is not enough for the top split there is a good chance we'll both be in the second split. Can't wait for the opportunity to pass you on the straight and then park in Tiergarten before the GP track :).

-------

From some more data gathered last night I updated the fuel chart, but nothing significantly changed because of it. We're still looking at about 13 fuel save stints if everything goes well.

Sleep well, boys! We've got a long road in front of us. Sorry that I'll be meeting some of you for the first time tomorrow, but I'm really looking forward to it!

That's an awesome lap Noel! Are we doing any sort of driver's meet tomorrow morning? Any other changes to setup or schedule?
