Nurburgring 24 - B2O Teams iRacing

Thanks! I'll be around before the race obviously, but I don't think everyone can be there at the start.

The schedule hasn't changed any further as far as I know, and the setup I'm loading is still the same, except with your suggestion applied by bringing the front tires a click down (145 kPa all around).

After 10 hours we've had some pretty bad luck and I have yet to step behind the wheel. My stint is due up next.

Some minor wall damage early on led to decreased lap times and a lengthy repair... but we floated up to 9th overall I believe before a random motor blow at the 9 hour mark - extremely random - we had no additional damage and had been running fine for quite a while, there was no damage right before it that caused the blow.

It randomly occured in turn 2 so we had a 10 minute tow then 40 minute repair that put us back. Back and running now the car seems almost good as new. Still frustrated that we have no idea what caused the engine blow.

Can't say enough about what an awesome job all of you did!

Our perseverance paid off when we finally, FINALLY, picked up 4th place after the 2nd place team (cleanest car of the race up until the incident) spun out of the second carousel and got hung on the wall. They towed to the pits, pitted out, blew their engine on the back stretch of the GP circuit, took the shortcut to the front stretch to pit in and received a black flag PLUS 40 minutes of repair PLUS penalty for cutting the track and ended up retiring. EXTREMELY tough luck for a team that had done such a good job for 22 hours, but their retirement made the grind of being in 5th, with nothing but bleak hopes and dreams on the horizon, worth it.

Huge thanks to Noel for the fuel work. Things changed during the race, and not everything went according to plan, but I believe that it bolstered the importance of Noel's preparation rather then detracted from it. Without a basic plan, we would have been out there, mindlessly turning laps like a chicken with it's head chopped off. We had to make adjustments here and there, but we were prepared for multiple situations, and when the end of the race came down to squeezing two 7 lap stints to make it to the checkers, we were confident in our ability to do so!

Huge thanks to our late additions; Bedo and Richard! Sorry that we didn't get more time to prepare and get to know each other, and I'm sorry if the chemistry felt weird, as I wasn't familiar enough with everyone to know exactly what information to give and when, but I hope that you enjoyed being a part of this event because I sincerely enjoyed having you guys on the team! You guys did an amazing job with your stints, and I hope to see more of you guys in the future and to get to know you guys a better.

We survived 153 laps, 2413 miles (3886 km), a connection drop, a meatball, and 6 minutes of additional repair, but we stuck with it, and we definitely got a result that we can keep our heads high about!

Also!!!!
A 4.99 class safety rating for EVERYONE*!!!!
*Unless you're name is Angelo Pulgar, and you are the only team member to run 100% of your stints incident free... then you can stay a B 4.xx pleb bitch..

I, of course, am just kidding Angelo! I actually feel like you got unduly robbed in this event. Congrats on completing BOTH of your stints incident free!!

Congrats to the team for the 4th place finish despite the few setbacks!
It really goes to show that anything can happen in 24H.

Thank you guys for having us drive with you. I personally had a lot of fun, and wish I had the time to contribute more in this event.

I had a great battle with Nick Thissen fighting for position in my first sting. Really intense stuff, and a couple of very close calls, but all worked out.

In my evening stints, I was already pretty tired from earlier activities in the day. I had family visiting and was showing them around all day. My second sting went well, I was on mental autopilot. In my third stint I had a lapse in concentration at the entry of Brunchen, and ended up hitting the all hard. I figured it was probably best to call it a night than risk bigger damage. Thanks Marc for taking over.

You guys are all amazing drivers! Noel, I have no idea how you were saving so much fuel and was able to keep such pace.

I would definitely like to drive more with you guys. Perhaps at the next VLN with the AMG. (Big AMG fan personally. :) )

Congratulations, guys. Thanks for the gust down Dottinger Hohe, Marc. Wish we could have kept the Mazda on track longer but you know the rest.

I'd like to thank all of you guys for all of the hard work and hours of preparation that you put into this event. Also thank you for feeling comfortable to go try something different with my first few stints, unfortunately pushed a little hard and gave us that repair time. You guys did amazing by not giving up and pushing out laps. Great job and team effort all around! Noel, Marc, Angelo, Bedo and Richard you guys did awesome! And of course we can't forget Duke for giving us this place we call internet home by bringing us all together. I'd like to give one last shot out to Naid From Crimson for getting Bedo and I in touch. You and Richard we're a great late addition and I would love to run some VLN with you guys in the future! Take care and stay in touch!

Seriously one big round of applause all around, Great work every single one of you.

Eventhough i didn't participate myself, i had a lot of fun just watching you guys rip the ring another one!
From now on i'll refer to the ring as Lüneburg Ring :)

Anyone have screenshots from the last laps? I have the replay, but trading paints won't set the skin correctly. Also iRacing failed to record the non-rendered cars, so I can only see 20 even though I've set it to 60 before I launched the replay.

Great job Team B2O. From what I watched of you guys, you were turning some great, solid laps.

We finished 13th in class after some bad luck run-ins but overall it was an incredibly fun event. I too got 4.99 haha.

If you only had 20 cars selected during the race, then iRacing only recorded 20 cars during the race. Sorry bud.. Maybe post on the forum and see if anyone recorded all 50+ cars.

As for the paint, just turn off trading paint, and manually force that .tga file down iRacings throat.. I mean copy and paste the .tga into the C-spec paint folder...

Great race guys! I'm replying a bit late but after being awake for nearly 30 hours I needed my 16-hour sleep :).

This track was about 843 times harder than Daytona so it's pretty amazing that we've kept our RUF comfortably drivable till the end, even after repairs. After crashing it before at Bathurst I can say that it's very easy to make this car drive like crap, no matter how many repairs.

If anything, we had more front down force with the damage and our tires seemed to last longer. A lack of straight line speed made fuel saving a little harder but not impossible. Marc did a great job saving fuel on pretty much all his stints and notifying me about my lap targets for fuel saving.

The RUF field was pretty strong for the second split, and especially the top 4 drove extremely well for many hours on end. Like Marc said, we were constantly disappointed that they had all been driving for X hours without major issues. Finally, towards the end the SRN team blew an engine and we were able to overtake them.

I had four goals that I set after the repairs:
1. Finish.
2. Get a clean double stint in for myself.
3. Finish ahead of the leading Kia.
4. Not be last driving RUF on track.

And we have achieved all of them!

Thanks to Richard and Bedo, our "guest" drivers. You both seem like great guys and good drivers so hopefully we can do more events together.

Thanks to the rest of the team for achieving such a good result and not crashing the car. And if they, you know, DID crash the car, thanks for not totaling it ;). Well done everyone! Anyone with realistic expectations would be skeptical of what we have achieved in the end.

Too bad that your car refused to go more forward than sideways after repairs, Will, that sucks. Same goes for the other Mazdas that retired, it's fun pestering them in a car almost twice as fast.

Good to hear you had a good race too, Kyle. Unfortunate that we weren't in the same split, but it would be bad for you to have all that preparation and excitement and then not being able to race. Glad you found a team and was able to participate in the end.

Now this is how you drive the RUF!

Wow. The first one is partly the Mazdas fault though. He was taking the inside line when he thought the RUF was going to squeeze in there. Then he changed direction and there was contact. If the RUF would still have hit him even if he didn't change his line I don't know.

The second one kind of makes me wish that there was a practical test you'd have to complete before being allowed in a 6+ hour race.

Oh crap, I forgot. And I can't sneakily edit it in because I can't edit :p.

Thanks to Duke for providing your interpretation of "moral support" and for keeping us awake. Thanks to Marc, especially, for talking to me in the last hour, otherwise I might have dozed off :p.

On the other hand I would like to revoke my thanks because Duke is being a dictator and forcing me to proudly wear this signature :).

I think getting ripped on from you guys ....again... made up for my mistakes :)

But really sorry about that, was too early on to be pushing that hard %110 my fault. Just glad we were able to finish and everyone got a chance to drive!
