Nurburgring is coming to iRacing!!

Nice to have a preview.

It shouldn't be too long until it is released I hope. There is a tentative event on the Road Warrior schedule for the Nürgburgring in November/December. At the latest I expect that they release it at the start of season 1 - 2016, probably along with the Mercedes SLS AMG.

If they end up releasing the SLS by the end of this year I'd be wonderfully surprised. The turn time for them would be awesome (just under six months) which bodes REALLY well for another certain GT3...

I think they might also be under a bit of pressure by Blancpain itself, considering how well cooperation with Audi and Mercedes is. Might even encourage other manufacturers to join in.

You might have a good point there Dino. I'd not be surprised if Blancpain had a stipulation of a timeline for releases and such. But that also means Blancpain or the manufacturers would need to be very quick to help iRacing with any info / data they need.

Not as fast as it seems maybe, they only announced the Mercedes when it was already in production:
Steve Myers said:
We’re tremendously excited to be partnering with Mercedes-Benz,”said Steve Myers, Executive Vice President and Executive Producer at iRacing.com. “iRacing and Mercedes-Benz actually had signed the licensing agreement awhile back, but we were waiting until we could announce the Mercedes-AMG GT3 was in production before we made our partnership public."

Still though, I mean minus data gathering time from the manufacturer, it still shows basically when they started production.

Is it just me or is this on the new sound engine??? The shifting sounds from the first video (above) and the exterior sounds are 10000x better I think. Anyone else??

Very nice. I didn't notice any difference in sound from the on-board camera. Can't say about the track cam because I rarely use that.

Nah, can't say i notice any difference, except mine sounds better than the crappy phone audio in the vid :)

Looking forward to the track tho!

Great video. Something I've said about the mark of a great simulator, which showed when (I HATE to namedrop) I raced AJ Allmendinger: real professional race car drivers can jump on, especially with little to no gaming experience, and excel as if the game is not a game at all but real life.

Guten Tag!

We just wanted to provide an update on the release of the various Nurburgring Circuits. Our goal and plan as many of you know was to release the track(s) for a late October or November time frame. As many of you saw at the sim expo or on video even back a few weeks ago the track(s) are about done. At that time (the expo) what was left to do as far as the track itself was applying the critical final polish and detail that makes a big difference. We are about done with that as well and from that perspective on schedule.

However as we also told many at the sim racing expo and in other places when we did release it in November it would just be the track itself for driving (not really racing). All the other unique items for this track like specialized race control, Bride to Gantry Point to Point Circuit, new shared pitting, new shaders along with some other relatively mundane code changes would not be released until the December build for both technical and timing reasons. We also have some other new code that really is basically intertwined with the track at this point. The way this has worked out and come together, all of this is making it a pain if not impossible to test and release the track by itself without releasing everything associated with it and we are not ready to release everything since the build is scheduled for December.

All of this is a long way of saying we are not going to release the Nurburgring until the December build but the good news is it is just a minor delay of a few weeks. Additionally when it does release it will be ready to go for both driving and racing rather than basically a preview. I just wanted to provide the details (and excuses) as to why the delay. Just a lot of work! I am going to dive under my desk now and work from there until December!

Gute Renn!!!
TL;DR: No Nurburgring until 2016 S1 (Early / Mid Dec), Will have shared pit boxes

Incredible. I say the first thing we all do is put up a server and do a practice / race session in the slowstice. haha. Good way to take it nice and slow and enjoy the scenery.

The NewBrokenGasPump Model is great!

One of my biggest gripes to date with iRacing's graphical shortcomings has been the lack of feel in regards to lighting and the surfaces. I think the new PBR will completely change all that and the lifelike stills they've taken really show a step in the right direction. ESPECIALLY without that shitty fake god rays and lens flares bullshit that every game slaps in.

We've missed the surface looking like this: http://s3.f1zone.net/news/wp-content/uploads/2012/08/616470_503410523018626_339062432_o.jpg

But this looks great! http://members.iracing.com/jforum/posts/downloadAttach/2351000.page

If you have AC, I highly recommend getting the DLC with Nurburgring. They have all the layouts and it's laser scanned. I've probably got around 100-150 laps by now on there in various cars. We've had Friday night Ferraris on Turist layout going once in a while where about dozen or so of us would go around just like turists and learn the track, names of sections etc. I highly recommend it.

I will probably practice with a Lamborghini Gallardo in GTR2 (modded track from rFactor 1 I believe). It won't be anything near as detailed as iRacing but I should be able to tell corners apart that way.

Also, I noticed their DLC 2 has Lambo Huracan GT3, Audi R8 LMS Ultra 2014 and others. Kyle, I am looking at you :D
