Overwatch

Anybody getting into this? I'm starting to hear some positive rumblings about it and I can't help but wonder if this is the next TF2, albeit a little (a lot) less goofy.

It is $60, but I'm thinking about taking the plunge...

Looks interesting. I'm guessing this is one of those games where it would be good to have a full team on teamspeak and using strategies etc. otherwise playing with pubbies will likely do your head in. Especially if people leave half way through.

Does look good though. Who is distributing this? I can't see this on Steam or Origin.

After playing through a couple Betas and last night I can say it is much better than TF2, for me anyway. It is sort of a mix of TF2 with some moba-type elements, but it does not play like a moba at all.

I have a feeling it will be eating up quite a bit of my time.

I heard the netcode isn't exactly perfect.

mus1CK was commenting on this in one of his Battlefield 4 streams the other night saying you could be shot around corners due to the other guys latency.

By comparison he stated Dooms netcode is far better.

Hmm. I ahven;t tried Doom multiplayer yet, still blasting my way through the singleplayer. Doom is a damn fun game.

It does look like the netcode could use some work but it looks like it could be an "easy" fix to get it on par with other comparable shooters:

Oh god I quit BF4 shortly after launch because of the net-code shenanigans. I haven't really noticed any of these issues in overwatch yet but maybe I will once I break that threshold of just being bad vs bs netcode kills.

So I definitely noticed a little bit of netcode issues last night. However it seemed to be when I was getting matched up on an east coast or euro server as my ping was around 100-200ms when having issues. When playing with a local friend and getting low 20-30ms pings to servers I never noticed these issues.

Also Junkrat is an asshole.

BF netcode has improved significantly since the CTE, now it's far less of an issue than upon release.

BF players are experts when it comes to poor netcode because they've seen it at its worst and just how much a difference it actually makes

looking at the tests in the video I posted above it appears that BF4 isn't far off from CS:GO now which is pretty awesome.

Overwatch needs some work but considering it is a Blizzard game, I have to say the launch is surprisingly smooth compared to other titles *cough*d3*cough*everywowexpansion*cough*
