If you've purchased Borderlands 2 via Steam, you are now able to preload Borderlands 2 so you're ready to hop into the action once the game is officially released on the 18th.

In fact, you've been able to preload Borderlands 2 since the 14th!

Don't you just love Steam :)

I can't believe how much I'm enjoying this game right now Wappy, hopefully you feel the same. Some of the larger battles are simply amazing and the one thing I really like is when you clear out an area, raiders move back in and re-populate it.

In fact, there's very few areas in this game that are ever dead for long, they always get re-populated.

Another thing that's blown me away is the sounds. Gun battles in particular sound amazing and bullet ricochets in this game are among the best I've ever heard in any game.

The weapons are so diverse and uncanny that it's actually fun to try different weapons just to see what they do. There's also mods that you can add such grenade mods that affect how your grenades perform. Last night I picked up a grenade mod that makes my grenade explode and split into 8 smaller grenades.

I'm actually starting to believe the 87 bazillion guns.

With some of the baddies carrying shields, it's quite literally the only way to take them out sometimes.

The day/night cycles add a tremendous amount of immersion to the game, my only wish was that there was weather cycles as I've seen none yet.

In fact, dynamic weather is my only complaint and it's a minor one at that.

The one thing I noticed last night this game has that no other has is situational weapon usage. There have been numerous times I've changed my loadouts and weapon slots to tackle a particular area based on geography.

For the most part I'm almost always kitted up with a Sniper Rifle, a powerful handgun that deals elemental damage and a shotgun that either deals explosive rounds or elemental damage.

I even change up my shield mods depending on geography. If I'm in an area where close combat is likely, I'll switch to a shield mod that covers my foe in acid if they try to melee me. Conversely, if the area is open, I'll use a heavier generic shield so as not to take damage from long range sniper or turret fire.

One thing I missed talking about is the AI. The AI in this game is truly amazing as well and they are so diverse in how they act that they keep you busy and thinking about combat at all times.

I finally ran into this class of baddie (I can't remember the name) where if you headshot them, their head basically hangs from their body and then their behavior modifies from long range heavy to suicide heavy (they just run at you and beat you to a pulp).

While you're fighting them chances are you'll run into a plethora of other baddies that either engage you at distance, run in with a grenade in their hands ready to suicide bomb you, as well as in between baddies with elemental weaponry.

Until I actually started playing this game I wasn't sure how I'd feel about it. As it stands though Borderlands 2 has my vote for Game of the Year.
