Question about GPU

I'm thinking about an upgrade soon. I'm sticking with AMD overall since my current
entire system are based on AMD chipset and CPU.

I'm contemplating a single Gigabyte Windforce 7970 or 2x7950 in Crossfire.
The new drivers has eliminated the micro stutters and latency in frame rendering.
Thus crossfire is an option again.

Any input about this.

Get the 7970. When EDGE is out add another - only if others report an improvement.

I can't speak for Crossfire but I can say that in SLI anyway, 2 graphics cards are not all there cracked up to be. In some games you notice huge gains in frames and physics but in others (most others) you notice marginal increases at best.

I'd always recommend the single best card you can almost afford because if you can easily afford it then it's typically not good enough lol.

What Duke said. Only go Crossfire/SLI when your card is getting old and you can add another as a cheap way to squeeze more life out of it.

I'd just like to clarify something, PCIe 3.0 is PCIe 3.0, there are no problems with using either manufacturer, unless you switch from one to the other on an existing OS install, in that case insure you do a clean wipe of the other drivers to avoid issues (which I have done with no problems).

I am currently very price conscious, so I tend to project that into my recommendations, and contrary to recent trend in recommendations, I have no issues with either camp, but at the present based on performance/price I'm tending nVidia. Personally I'd buy a GTX760 @ $250 and at the price of a 7970 I'd buy a GTX 770 for better performance at the same price.

I just hate seeing mates spending more for less.
