Reformatting my PC

Hey guys and gals this is just a quick message to let you know I'm down for a bit while I reformat and re-install my OS. It's been problematic for a while now but it's become pretty much unbearable and I can't ignore the multiple issues I'm having anymore.

I probably won't be around at all this weekend for Guild Night Saturday or Farming Simulator Sunday, just wanted to let you know why.

Hopefully I should be up and running for the most part late tonight/early tomorrow but then comes the fun part of getting back to where I was which could take weeks.

Last Friday I replaced my motherboard and changed from a P67 to a Z77 chipset. I was prepared to completely reinstall Windows7. To my suprise it was not necessary - system is fast and completely stable.

As I absolutly hate wasting my time on system maintenance, I feel for you Engy.

Actually it worked out pretty well, so well in fact that I should have tackled this earlier. What really helped me is that I've gotten in the habit of saving all my dl files to specific folders within a giant Archive Folder that houses all of my website related files.

Virtually everything I needed was still in my Downloads Folder so it was only a matter of updating a few programs and or re-downloading there current versions. I also took a complete backup of my C:\ Drive prior to the reformat/re-install and that helped tremendously.

Of course it didn't help Origin or Battlefield (big surprise) and I also lost my Font Folder for some reason but other than that I'm pretty much back where I started except without the bugs.

I'd recommend that you never delete software downloads unless you dl newer version as you never know if you'll need them again. This one practice saved me countless hours of trying to remember what I had previously and where I got it.

Also, since most of my Programs (such as Steam) are on a non-system drive there was nothing really to restore other than the "All Programs" Shortcuts.

All in all a rather smooth process surprisingly so.

Nice to hear everything went so smoothly! I just hate going through everything and deciding what to backup and what not. Then the whole process of reinstalling all the programs and games..

We been farming in the meantime though d000kie! Even have those black and white things on 4 legs now!

You guys know about http://ninite.com, right?

It only installs to the system drive, but you can move stuff to other drives afterwards and make a junction if need be.
