if your planning on getting CoH2, I would probably pass on the expansions, but CoH: Tales Of Valor does act as a stand alone and you can play British! So you could either get Vanilla CoH, or Tales Of Valor. Opposing Fronts needs Vanilla to run.

Actually you can play by buying any of them. Buy the original game and you can only play as American and Wehrmacht for multiplayer. Buy Opposing Fronts and you can only play as Panzer Elite or British. Buy Tales of Valor and you can play all four. The campaigns from the former two are pretty good though, so if it's cheap and you like SP, grab them

For what it's worth, I've been getting into Rome: Total War, although I honestly don't play many of the battles. As RTS games go, though, that's my preferred approach, at least in SP. Most of the time, I find the clickclickclick quality of RTS games to be irritating, since I prefer to think through my moves, and I hate base-building.

With Rome, you fight battles with the forces at your disposal, and that's that. Plus, at least in SP, you can pause to issue orders. I find the camera a bit dodgy to use, but on the whole it's good stuff.

Good to see you too, man. Yeah, Rome's pretty badass. I picked up the Steam collection of Total War games which included Rome, Medieval 2, Empire, and Napoleon. I'm gonna give Empire a miss, but the others, I'm quite looking forward to. I'm currently trying to take out the Egyptians in Rome, which will likely prompt the Senate to start telling me to kill my faction leaders, since I'm about to hit the required # of provinces.

I'm not looking forward to fighting the Brutii. The Scipii will be a cakewalk, though, as will the SPQR. I'll probably start transporting veteran legions back to Italy pretty soon. One step over the Rubicon...

Yeah I didn't bother with Empire either, by the time I had a good enough computer Napoleon was out, which is basically the same thing but expanded.

Sounds like you're about to hit the hairy part of the campaign haha. Medieval was fun for the crusades and such. Ever play Shogun 1 or 2? I downloaded #2's demo. I know a fair bit of Japanese history so I find it interesting, but the combat of the era doesn't appeal to greatly.


Rocky, Pepsi, Fireblade, and myself played some 4v4 on CoH the other day. Pretty good fun, even if Rock and I weren't so great at it
