Satisfactory

As someone who thinks Factorio is a very good game, this one got my attention when I saw the pre-alpha trailer:

It is being developed by Coffee Stain studios, who have also created Goat Simulator for example. They say it will be a mix between Ark: Survival Evolved, Subnautica, No Man's Sky and Factorio. It will feature coop multiplayer, and I don't believe this means each player will be on a different planet, 6000 light years apart.

Developers have to be careful as soon as they mention Factorio-like mechanics being in their game, because Factorio does certain things very well. The graphics may be fairly simple but I believe Factorio is mostly played because of its complexity and almost limitless construction. The devs optimized the game in high detail, which means you can transport tens of thousands of items around your factory and place down around 900,000 solar panels and it will still run fairly well. With a sandbox/survival construction game such as Satisfactory people are likely going to want to expand beyond the limits of the game. How soon that limit is reached is likely a part of how successful this game will be.

I can't wait to see how this game pans out. It looks amazing.

I worry that I cannot even manage factorio belts in a 2d setting, 3d is going to make my brain melt.

I'm curious about that one as well. I like the art style a lot more than Factorio's, which is a lot grey/brown/dark green.
