Site Name Change Suggestions

Hello all,

Enough time has passed for everyone to chime in on the topic so all previous discussions have now been archived.

This topics sole purpose is to decide once and for all on a new Site Name.

The most voted names from previous attempts are as follows:

• denofgaming: Sitename & url = denofgaming.com/net
• denofgamers: Sitename & url = denofgamers.com/net
• dukesofgaming Sitename & url = dukesofgaming.com/net
• bandofothers: Sitename = bandofothers url = bandofothersgaming

Please either show your support for one of the above or suggest something you feel is better suited.

IMPORTANT!! Gaming or Gamers is include in the url only and does not need to be included in any of the site nomenclature. It's usage is strictly for SEO so most of it is targeted toward bots, not humans.

PLEASE NOTE: I have not set a hard target deadline for this discussion as of yet but please be cognizant there is some urgency attached to it.

Tag Usage: Please do not allow tag usage to affect your decision.

Out of these, and lacking better suggestions myself, my vote goes to bandofothers.

Descriptive of us, general enough yet not too generic.

I'm in for Band of Others as well, from all suggestions it describes the bunch we are the best.
I'm too tired at the moment to actually take advantage of the creative part of my brain to suggest other names.
We've been over it for a long time now so let's indeed cut it and vote from the above and get the rebrand out so we can start building more roads towards us.

Note the awesome latin phrase. Laboris Gloria Ludi, which means: "Games are the glory of work" What better saying for a gaming community!?

I cannot believe how difficult this process is. It actually took me months to come up with Lifesupporters.com and that name sux for SEO.

Out of those - Band of Others. I still love the image you made where some of us chose an avatar for you to put in it, I thought that really worked.

Let's get this put to bed and get it going chaps (and chapettes).

Anyway i stand behind my earlier choice being Band of others.

I like the style from the Banner as well.
Maybe you could do something with that Kyle?

If we do the banner approach to BandofOthers I want to keep it exactly as it is. We can of course swap out characters and include only regularly active Membership.

The current look is a nearly exact replica of the DVD Box Set and Poster Art. Aside from tweaking the clouds to be more accurate there isn't much to be done there.

Assuming we go with the landing page mock up I shared earlier, this could serve well as a backdrop to our main page when people visit the site.

I'm assuming the banner is what I've seen that is on the twitch channel. What do you mean duke by the characters on it? For those hypothetical individuals that might not understand, what does the name stem from? The tv series? Is there another tie in?

I think it's just some shit that Duke pulled out of his ass making that banner a while ago. It fits, really, as there are a lot of strange mother fuckers up in here.

If you look at the DVD Box Set, the art assets are pretty much identical. I couldn't find exact sky or grass so I created a half-assed kinda comic book copy of it.



The characters in our art are not soldiers from the Box Set but video game personalities picked by our Members that they feel is most representative of who they are as people.

The font is an exact replica of the font used for the DVD Box Set with only the Br removed from "Brothers". The entire project can be seen in this topic.

I had to make a few "artistic decisions" so as to the size of the characters in front of the Band of Brothers Logo to make them discernible but that's pretty much the only obvious change.
