Slight upgrade

I got tired of Crossfire and descided to do something about it.
I choose between GTX760 4GB and HD7979 3GB and the Radeon
won. I also upgraded my memory from 8Gb 1333 9CL sticks to 16 GB
9 CL 1600 sticks.

So my current system specs are:
GA-990FXA-UD7 Mainboard
Phenom II X4 955 BE 3.5 GHz with overcklock
Kingston 16 GB 1600 MHz DDR3 9CL
Radeon HD7970 3GB 1GHz GPU
SSD Corsair 60GB for the OS
BenQ XL2411T 144 Hz 24 inch monitor

Next upgrade will be the FX-8350 CPU AM3+ and then I'm at
roads end with this system :D

Still a very good system. No reason to think you can't squeeze another 4 years out of it easy.

That's my belief aswell. I've had it a number of years and with that CPU it might tick along for 3 (perhaps 4) more years.

Thanks mate.
The best gaming option today however would be a i7 and a Nvidia but
I'm happy :icon_cheesygrin:

I don't agree with your Nvidia statement. There are games that run better on AMD and others on Nvidia. With the advent of the new consoles (that are using AMD gpus) even more games (engines) will support AMD better than Nvidia.

And I don't agree with your I7 assessment either. ;) The best gaming cpu is a i5 k series. They are better overclockable than their i7 counterparts and no games (I know of) use more than 2 cores or hyperthreading.
