So You Got The Itch To Start Racing... How Do I Start? (Advice For New Drivers)

This thread is dedicated for the new drivers. If anyone has educational material, tips or trick for new drivers please join in.

This video from Skip Barber racing school is relatively old but contains a lot of information about controlling a car, racing lines, weight shifting, clean race craft, general racing, and much more.

Also The Drift Bible by the drift king (Keiichi Tsuchi) is very informative about how to control a car that is out of control... the funnest was to get around the track... DRIFTING.

The most important thing is to be patient. Remember Rome wasn't built in a day.

Also, for those with iRacing, don't forget to check out the video tutorials they provide! (You can watch them in HD via Youtube, but then they don't count towards the iRacing achievement...)

You don't need those to start, no way...but once you know you really like it, and you plan to spend years doing it? Spend them dollars if you you've got 'em. In hind sight I wish I had just skipped the "middle tier" of gear and gone straight to high end stuff once I was sure this was a hobby I was going to stick with for a long time. None of it has made me a lick faster but it's made the experience much more engaging and fun.
