Sothis: Delicious smuggling missions. Better than trader grinding

The title says it all. How long this will last is anyones guess.

Sothis is an interesting system anyway, first time I've seen a station under construction. A nice guide on how to make loads of money has already been made and can be found at:

Hmm... I just logged in to see how far away Sothis is from where I was last as I couldn;t remember. Load the game up... preparing shaders.... bam. I see a cracked canopy, oxygen depleted in 6:12 and 1% Hull. And I haven't got enough insurance to cover the Clipper. Safe to say I logged off immediately (well, had to wait 15 precious seconds).

I will probably never play Elite again.

(Actually it's going to be quite good trying to get to a station before I lose everything.... should probably stream it for posterity)

Thanks for the heads up Ninj, if I make it then I will check this out, I could do with chilling out doing some smuggling with some tunes on tonight

Are you doing this in a Cobra or an Asp?

Woah, that's no way to load up the game. I would personally log a bug report on the frontier forums, they can't restore exploration data or bounties but they will happily restore your ship when crazy stuff like that happens.

I've been using a cobra for the speed. However, I will prob switch to asp because the extra cargo space and jump range is preferable. I've been caught out and scanned a couple of times by the authorities in the cobra whilst trying to dock, but the fines are puny compared to the profits in the end.

Nicest mission so far was to take 1 imperial slave to an outpost for 2.343,859 credits.

Bug report that p. I think that's a known issue and they'll fix it for you.

I really wish it was guys but I have since remembered I went into the RES I was at with Duke, Quicksilver et al a few nights before, I'd had a few too many wobbly pops and tried to take on an Anaconda. Anaconda kicked my ass and I barely got out of there with the 1% Hull...

Imagine if I get all the way to the station in a hurry because my Oxygen is running out so my shields wouldn't have come back up, and I then clip the toaster rack on the way in... BOOM

In fact, this is almost certainly what will happen

You should be able to rebuy that clipper, just not its outfitting.

Sell the clipper, outfit a vulture, head to a Haz RES and you'll have more than enough to rebuy the clipper and have insurance money.

Looks like the gravy train is over. I made around 130mil over the 2 days I played - which was nice. Some people took the mickey from what I've been reading, which is always sad. But still, a little less grinding for trader and some very exciting runs against a mass of pirates as well as many local authorities.
