Could you explain why we don't have mirrors in cockpit view? For those of us excited to drive in first person, it is impossible to reverse a trailer to park it without mirrors. Are you planning on "switching them on" at a later date? Thanks.

PZ: From a technical perspective, working mirrors are not easy to do as the game only "knows" what is currently in front of the viewer.

But yes, it's a highly requested feature and we do plan to have working mirrors in cockpit view implemented in an upcoming update!

Netjun fell in to the river and got swept away, wapwap and I bravely give chase to attempt a rescue but look what happens when you try to be a hero..

. Meanwhile, Shilka looks on in disbelief at his "teammates" (he later rescued Netjun though, gg)...

This game is great fun :)

for sure , if you like the look of it , you have missed nothing by going directly to this. HOWEVER , this is 50% cheaper on steam if you own the original that you can find anywhere else other than steam , like cdkeys , or G2A ($3 last i looked) , so buy the original first :p

Soooo worth buying if you never played the first?
If it looks even the slightest bit interesting to you then the answer is yes.

The game itself ls like watching paint dry, it's slow, cumbersome even clumsy at times but these are good things because even little victories feel that much more satisfying. You never really get into the same spot of trouble with your friends twice, there's always new and unique ways to screw yourself and your friends over.

The environment is beautiful, diverse and challenging. The water and mud effects are a huge leap forward from the original SpinTires enough so where I'd consider this SpinTires 2 instead of 1.5 as some call it.

The only thing I wish they'd do is focus on breathing life into the maps because that's always been lacking in this title. It looks like a forest and sound like a forest but doesn't feel like one. There are day/night transitions but the big effects are still missing like wind and any sort of dynamic weather. Fog and low cloud are the same day in and day out all the time which is possible now and again I suppose but for the most part doesn't happen in the natural world.

It would be great if we could one day see sparse wildlife, birds in the sky or even eyes reflecting back at you from deep cover in the woods.

These are all little things of course that I'd love to see but really don't detract from the game that much. The experience is in the driving and there it's truly amazing. Winches are not as OP as they were in the original game so getting stuck for good is possible without the help of friends to get out.

It's unique, it's fun and funny at the same time. Definitely a good value in my book.

Excellent summary from Duke there and I echo his thoughts, it's a thouroughly enjoyable game, and weirdly relaxing. It's all about going for the objective to deliver the lumbar, but for me the game is really about the journey (with your friends, and all the scrapes you get into and out of together), not the destination.

A very unique experience in todays gaming climate. No loot boxes, no xp, just playing the game because it's fun and relaxing. I really enjoy it and Netjun makes a great point too, get the original for peanuts from a key retailer (I have used cdkeys man, many times with no problem) then you will get the 50% discount for Mudrunner.

I never even got a notification on this thread for some strange reason o_O

Since I wasn't entirely sure when we'd SpinTires Saturday I just kept asking you guys on stream when you'd be ready, worked well.

Oddly enough I'm having more fun in MudRunner than I was in the original which was fun on it's own right. I'm not sure what it is about MudRunner that's funner for me but I love it.

Hardcore is crazy though, you need 4 hours put aside IMHO if you're going to get through it.

I'm really waiting for the custom maps though :D The last one I played on spintires took me 13 hours to finish...
A release of an official map editor would be nice too!

I get your point, but after almost 500 hours of spintires you 'get to know' the vehicles and their behaviour quite well, just like the maps themself, and you start looking for more of a challenge. Plus some of the custom maps look very realistic and believable, and have awesome vista's. Where some are hugely difficult, others just need a lot of distance covered. I've always liked the game, but it's the map mods that gave me the extra 200 hours in it :)

I'm guessing the Map Mods can be run in Coop right?

...provided of course everyone has the same mod and mod version installed locally.

Yes they can, if you have the same custom map you can multiplay it, same goes for any vehicle mods btw. There will be no achievements of course.

Didn't come across any custom maps yet, and as far as I've understood from mapmakers they had to make some changes to ini files to make stuff work in order for them to be able to work on starting to convert their own maps. Officially there's still no map editor for mudrunner, nor any support for custom maps (neither for workshop). I hope that stuff will come soon. A small patch is expected soon, a larger patch in a few weeks. But no official word on map editor or custom map support as off now.

Well, the first patch is out for the game.

The main fixes are:
  • Fixed the steering wheel / mouse cursor bug. (You can now use a steering wheel and mouse at the same time.)
  • Fixed the ".stg mismatch" issue in multiplayer
  • If a game was played with mods, and the mods were later uninstalled, the "continue" trucks panel will now properly display the text "missing mod" and "???" instead of the truck name.
  • Fixed some crashes caused by mods.
  • Mods are now properly updated while the game is running.
  • Mods that contain only add-ons will not longer be available in multiplayer games
  • When you rescue a vehicle with a trailer, the trailer is now removed.
  • C-260 can now be used with long log trailer.
  • Minor UI fixes.

In a couple of weeks an even larger patch is expected, which, amongst more fixes and tweaks, should also bring us some 'community requests'. Which those will be is not explained, but I'm hoping for things like working mirrors, tire tracks (still missing atm) and the likes.
Id also love to see an official map editor, and custom map support on the workshop :)

There will be a new update coming next week (for PC, console will follow a couple of weeks later).

Patch notes are:
New upcoming features on all platforms:

  • A new optional camera mode, centred on the vehicle.
  • A new autosave system, that will save automatically every five minutes.
  • The ability to look through the back of the vehicle while in cockpit view.
  • Dramatically adjusting the difficulty of loading logs onto a trailer. Players will find it easier to straighten out the truck so that logs can be loaded now.
  • Various tweaks and fixes.
On consoles:

  • Steering wheel support will be introduced! The specifics of the wheels that will be supported will be detailed in the patch notes once the patch goes live, in a couple of weeks.
On PC:

  • More steering wheels will be officially supported, and even more will work, but not all will receive pedal support or controller presets.

  • New keyboard shortcuts so that players can easily switch to the cockpit view.

I love this game but what I'd love to see the most is some support of wildlife and dynamic weather.

Aside from that the game is near perfect for me as it is.

Shilka

Those would indeed be nice additions :)

Proper custom map support is what I'd like to see myself, but yeah, liked the game from the get go anyway ;)

I would really like pedal support, that would be awesome! My new wheel is suppose to be delivered today, I hope the game supports it because it is more fun driving with the wheel. Ken, in some of the Challenges I did there is wildlife, or at least birds. If you honk your horn, the birds fly off.
