Star Wars Battlefront - things you didn't know

Well, at least I didn't until today. Thought maybe some of these may help others who are starting out with this great game. It takes a while for it to click, and you have to have patience to get over the initial "holy crap what is going on I'm dying all the time" matches but when it does click and you finally have more kills than deaths, and are winning matches it is a sublime experience. Experience is the word, as it's a joy to just "be" in this game. The environments, the sounds, the effects both audio and visual are without peer. A few of us are really enjoying it here, fantastic game.

Thanks to these tips I now know exactly how traits work (I have bodyguard equipped as of now) and that AT-ST's have a weak spot on their back. I also didn't know you could cycle a power up you didn't want if you were stood in front of another one, I always thought you had to use it first to get another which was awkward in certain situations.

Finally, I had no idea that the slower you are going in a fighter the more powerful your shots are. That would explain how we were getting owned by slow, strafing fighters divebombing us in the Battle of Jakku where Quicksilver ragequit... :p

BLASTERS AND WEAPONS
Christian Johannesén, Designer

  • “Maintain controlled fire with your blaster to manage both heat and bolt spread.”
  • “With each successful cooling flush, the skill game increases in difficulty. When failing, dying or not activating the cooling flush, the difficulty level will decrease again.”
  • “The Ion Shot makes your blaster more powerful against vehicles, and weaker against troopers during its active time.“

PILOTING STARFIGHTERS
Nick Baker, Designer

  • “If you take damage while trying to call in a vehicle the progress will be reset.”
  • “Evasive manoeuvers break missile lock and Soft Lock.”
  • “Reduced velocity increases weapon power, increased velocity reduces weapon power for the A-wing, X-wing TIE fighter, TIE interceptor, Slave I and the Millennium Falcon.”
Björn Sundell, Vehicle Designer

  • “Hold the Left Trigger (RMB on PC) to activate your targeting system on the starfighters. It helps you land your shots.”

MISCELLANEOUS
Christian Johannesén, Designer

  • “A Trait will grant a passive bonus and level up with kill streaks. When dying, the Trait will lose a level again.”
  • “Customize your hand of Star Cards accordingly in Hero Hunt andHeroes vs Villains. Not even a Jedi can block an explosion.”
  • “Droids are not only great for attacking the enemy team, they also have a scan pulse that reveals enemies to your entire team.“
Jim Fagerlund, Mission Scripter

  • “In regular Battles, press the D-pad up to make your AI allies ‘search and destroy’ and D-pad right to ‘follow player’.”
Nick Baker, Designer

  • “The AT-ST has a weak spot on its back, try to target this when attacking one and defend it when piloting.“

The low speed doesn't have effect on the Landspeeders. Just certain ships have that ability.

After noticing i was about the only one taking actions against the pilot i decided to leave. No point if your teammates don't give a fuck if they get head or arse fucked by someone who should have been killed after his second strafe.

Ah A-wing yeah that's what it was yeah. I've actually done it myself after watching what he was doing and it's easy (if a little boring) to rack up a ton of kills. As soon as someone locks on hit the jammer, and if someone fires just evasive maneuver to break the lock and pull up for another run. It's simple.

I was firing on him with an Ion Torpedo but it takes 2+ players to combine actions to defeat the evasive actions of the pilot. I wasn't on TS but if I was we could have done that quite easy :icon_cool:

I think you are referring to the cooling down of the blasters. It's akin to the active reload system in gears of war. When your blaster overheats from constant firing then you have to hit the cooldown key/button in a narrow band, each time you do this the band gets narrower until it's almost impossible to hit I guess, never got past the third one without dying. It resets when you miss the reload or die. So the band goes back to it's widest point.

Um...ok. I don't think that'd be relevant for me, given how well I did in the beta. I'd get it like, 1-2 times, and the usually die. My K/D ratio was something like 1/2 or 1/3.

I was the same in the beta, the full game is much, much better.

And like anything, the more you play the better you get at it. Positive K/D is not important in this game anyway. It's about PTFO :)

I just spent an hour trying to get Star wars working on a friends account.
It kept crashing on startup. "press enter to start"
The guys in power at EA are really a joke if u ask me.( i see now why they get awarded with worst company of the year two times in a row, just behind Bank of America or Federal Reserve, cant remeber wich is worse)
anyways:
If u have same problem, do this:

  1. Go to origin game select menu
  2. Right click Star wars and choose “game proberties”
  3. Add this to it “-novid -noborder -windows” (exclude the quotations)
  4. Save & start the game.
