Teamspeak Server Issues

As many of you are aware, our TS Server has been giving us grief off and on for the past while. Both Wapwap and I have been in touch with Tech. Support and it seems that our best option is to move to another Server on a fresh install.

There are two ways to facilitate this move:
  1. Instant relocation to a new server. This will render your current Fragtard Teamspeak Bookmark useless as the IP will differ. Once the Server is up we'll be sure to post the new IP as well as update the Fragtard TS3 Server Block to the right of the forums.
  2. They can setup a temporary Server on a fresh install and let us try it out for 5 days. This option is the most appealing to me but it only works if we get input from all of you on any little issue you run into.
This is just an FYI for all of you should you try to access Fragtard TS3 and find it is no longer accessible.

I've updated the Support Ticket to have this move done asap but I'm not sure how that translates from a time scale POV? Hopefully the move will be done shortly so I can update everyone on the new IP.

Depending on when they get to it, it could be that the Server move happens within the next few hours so if you're on TS and it's not there all in the sudden, it's because it's being moved.

Sorry for the inconvenience.

Just a quick update, they are finally getting to the Server move so it appears our TS is down now for good.

I've been assured that the new Server should be up and running in about an hour so I'll update when I know more.

The new Fragtard TS3 Server is up and running and can be found at the following address:

ts22.gameservers.com:9130

ElektroVodka

And that one is acting up aswell.

I cloned it to our ArmA3 Box, it uses like 0.0000001 % extra resources so we should be fine.
I need to get a non profit license to boot up the client number above 32 but support is not online atm so we have to stick with this for a bit.

IP=92.48.206.217 (You dont need a port nor is it password protected)

I will be sending out PM's with privilege keys to all known TS admins.

Teamspeak is down yet again so I've changed servers to the following address:

ts50.gameservers.com:9148

Even though this is apparently complete the Server still shows offline, f3ck.

We won't be doing much in the way of TS Configuration as it's quite likely I'll be cancelling the account this Friday May 10.

Sorry for the inconvenience.

I gave up tonight because the client was spamming me with reconnect attempts every four seconds. I'll have to listen to your sexy voice some other night.

Backup is and will remain online, i will look for a non profit license today so we can up it on client limit

New Fragtard Teamspeak can be found at the following address:

chi01.mainvoice.net:7242

This is a Chicago based Server so it should ping well for everyone.

I'll be dl'ing the config of our current Server once it's up, after that it's goodbye Gameservers.

Sorry for the inconvenience.

OK so as it turns out the TS Server should only have been down for a time period of 5 to 15 minutes. I received an e-mail about this downtime at 1:30 AM but never saw it until now:

Dear Ken,

We want to apologize for the short notice of this server change, but we have become aware of an issue at our data center provider that is hosting New York (including old Toronto server), Chicago and Dallas. At this time we feel it is best to do an emergency migration away from those data centers to new ones in the interest of keeping the services reliable. At 7 am PDT, we will be migrating all three servers to new data centers. All DNS will be updated so the transition should be more or less transparent for people using DNS names. If you are using a direct IP address, please consult your control panel after the migration to obtain the new IP address. Again we apologize for this short notice migration, but we feel it is best for the service to make this change as soon as possible.

This change will affect both Teamspeak and Mumble servers. The downtime should be very minimal as each server is migrated and started in the new location. There may be a slight delay in the updating of DNS names due to propagation, but it should be no longer than 5 minutes, 10 minutes max.

Thank you,

MainVoice Staff
My guess is that the Server now resides at a different IP address which means it will take some time to show up at Gameservers as the new IP will need to propagate which can take anywhere from a few hours to a few days globally.

You should all still be able to connect to the existing address though as it's static:

chi01.mainvoice.net:7242

Sorry for the confusion.

Gametracker reads hostnames aswell, might be an idea to add the hostname where the ip should go on GT, this way you make sure that on the next DNS load it will be working even tho the IP is wonky.
