The Current State of Project Cars

Doc

Core
Not to mention I have quite a few other games I'm playing right now. DiRT is amazing, KSP, and keeping up with iRacing still. And Elite's next big update drops in two weeks.
I hear ya on that Daunt. Between iRacing, Minecraft, GTA V, and now PCars AND wanting to get back into ETS2, there are just not enough hours in the day nor days in the week. Its not looking good for getting my daily recommended allowance of vitamin D.

And by the way I have Elite to with Voice Attack that I've just not been able to keep up with.

I wouldn't judge this game on Spotty AI because that is the norm in all racing games. Very few have been able to do AI well and all the time in the world won't change that for the current titles on offer.

I don't like Project Cars AI but I will say I do like them better than Assetto Corsa's AI simply because they appear marginally more human (although stupid human).

Their probably not too bad on a smaller grid but fielding 30 cars and gridding at the back (where I like to grid) is a cluster fuck even at 100% strength.

They just do dodgy shit like pile into the apex and wipe each other out. Once the field stretches out a bit is when the best racing can be had but the first few laps further down the field is all about survival and dodging bodies.

...kinda like GT3 in iRacing lol.

Nah you're right about that. Good AI is very tough to come by (amazing to say that about racing games... you'd think that it would be simple, compared to AI in FPS games, etc) but still I would expect it to be a bit better. I'll wait a little while longer, especially since I have a great amount of stuff to play as it is. But as I said, a great career mode is much needed.

I'm really enjoying career mode. It;s a lot more interesting than Forza, GT, AC etc.

They actually follow the correct format, for example in the Clio Cup the second race of the two at each track has a mandatory pit stop. It can be really fun figuring out whether to hold out (I have 50% race distance at the moment allowing for these tactical decisions) because it's getting cloudy and might rain, thus going into the pits and changing to wets etc.

Every race is different, it's not like a follow a train of cars on rails for lap after lap yawnfest like pretty much every other racer I can remember...

And besides, the real fun in any title is the multiplayer, and man that is fun with us playing ;)

Has anyone heard that they are already working on Pcars2.... another crowdfunded game...

kinda ticks me off...

That's really disappointing, the game seemed like it had a good base but still feels un-finished to me.

Indeed. Bit of a cash grab, especially to crowd-fund a second game after Pcars success... there's no reason they can't continually improve Pcars because it needs it, in several areas... not more content or shinier cars...

They aren't only working on project cars 2 already, they are also working on a red bull air racing game:

Looks like the focus isn't on project cars anymore for sure...
