Thrustmaster warthog

So who has one? Tell me why I should buy one. My CH Fighter stick, after 12 years of service seems to be having problems keeping it's centre so it's time to think about a replacement. It's either another CH Fighter stick or the Warthog.

I have one :)
It is by far the best stick I have owned, and trust me I have gone trough a lot (X52, X52 pro, G940 and then some). It's sturdy feel and metal finish is superb. If you fly DCS A10 the buttons are synced with the game automatically to the correct functions and the programmability for other sims are great. With their (complex) software you can program scripts and macros to make the stick do anything but coffee in the morning (awaits that FW upgrade) :).

Perhaps if you'd like a force sensing stick the X65 from saitek could be an option.

For a WW1 or WW2 simulation (perhaps even up to mid coldwar era) you can program the buttons as not to need a keyboard at all!

I'm ok for force sensing and I won't get a Saitek. I think it's like a car, once you've owned an Audi, BWM or Merc, you're only ever going to buy another one or one of the same class. So going from CH to another stick, the choice is either another CH or a Thrustmaster Warthog.

My only reservation is I really like the stick on the CH throttle and the Warthog doesn't have that and I've read you can't use the Warthog in direct mode, you have to run the Target software first before using the stick. Is this the case?

No, I don't install target. The 64 bit drivers are separate from Target.
The only reason to run Target is if the game doesn't support direct
programming of the stick. There is a "mini-stick" on the WH Throttle
that can be programmed in game if supported or in Target.

The mini stick is just 2 analoge axes. No special support needed for that. I like my Warthog and would only exchange it for a floor mounted force feedback version.
