Tips on avoiding people like this?

McLaren = me. C7 had it coming I'm sure.

He then crashed twice in a row trying to leave the pits.

Seriously it seems like these kind of drivers are in almost every race, especially if you have a low iRating like me (1500-1600). Also during our 24 hours of Daytona we're more than likely going to encounter a couple of these guys so I figured it might be nice to discuss a good way to handle them other than just hoping the ass of your car stays in one piece.

We'll be in a higher split but that doesn't mean very much. It will probably still happen. The race requires patience and people like that get what they deserve, and unfortunately give it sometimes too.

It's going to require careful, patient driving and a spotter keeping a keen eye on everything around the track. With fast DPs and such the spotter might be looking back more often than in front.

If you see a fast driver or someone who looks dangerous, you can guarantee I'll be letting them by as soon and safely as I can. There's no reason to race anyone early on.

With that said I don't mind helping out with spotting for a few hours if you guys want an extra pair of eyes watching at the beginning. Feel free to add me to the team that way I can join in and watch.

Thanks Davey. We'll keep you in mind. The plan I believe is to add everyone to the same team so we don't have to worry about who is on the correct team, but Ken will have to confirm. I think he plans to clear that up tonight (I HOPE!) so we don't have to scramble friday night.

Will there be one of those sudden screams on TeamSpeak that will scare Marc into the nearest wall? :)

I don't think there was much you could do there. It looked like you were both overshooting the corner a little, but he was doing it faster. Or you're just using a different line that he didn't notice. I think I have done the same to Peeble in practice sessions because I wasn't expecting it :p.

Being a practice session, I don't think it was a huge deal if he said sorry. It sucks if you were doing a stint but he should now know that McLarens are slow there and that he can't avoid one if he's coming in so hot. These are things that we usually practice in Practice Pals but these guys have to do it in open practices.

These aggressive moves still happen in races though. Especially at the start of endurance races I always look in my mirror during the braking zone and if somebody is closing on me fast I stick to the outside until they're past. I might lose a couple of positions by being cautious but it often saved me from a rear-end crash.

I could brush that one thing off, but then he hit the C7 shortly after. Then he also crashed twice just trying to pit out. THEN there were the multiple times he pitted out near me and was just a general reckless nuisance. I wouldn't have posted a video of this guy over one silly incident. Let's just hope he doesn't plan on racing this weekend.

guys... in those events we will be put in splits depending on the Q time not the iRating or wait... was that only for the Indy 500?

It will be by iRating,
iRacing said:
Splits will be set by iRating, except for the Indy 500 which is set by qualifying time. Note that in team races only the iRating of the team driver(s) registered when the race session launches are included in this calculation of team iRating – it works this way because we don’t know who else will be joining the race on any given team.
