Total War

Anyone here a fan of the series? I have Empire: Total War, my favorite in the series, and would enjoy having someone to conquer... I mean share the glory with. :icon_cheesygrin:

Great game series if you've never played it. Takes almost all of the empire management of civilization with amazing tactical battles. I do wish there was a happy medium, where you actually start like in civilization, with a settler and all. It misses out on the actual empire building, as in starting cities and such... but this is because they try to keep it as close to history as possible up to a certain era. Still in terms of tactical combat, I don't think there's another series that does it better.

Hi, I enjoyed the game. But I decide I can't play this as the BAI was hopeless. The only way to make a MP game playable would be for the other player to control the opposing army in every fight.

Having said this I'm not sure I have the time to play E:TW and Civ and EU4....soz.

As a grand campaign style MP game, I don't think its ideal, but it still would be fun to jump in and do quick multiplayer battles and possibly very small campaigns.

Ok, well I could perhaps do the odd battle. :) If you find me idle on steam remind me and I'll mob you with Basha Bazurks.

Daunt, Kirsty and I play napoleon total war on occasion if you have that.

I wanted Empire but never got to pick it up.

Been playing Europa universalis 4 the past few days. It's pretty fun.

No unfortunately I do not. You'd think I would, considering I love the Napoleonic Wars... but I don't understand why it is separate from Empire: Total War. Perhaps you could elaborate on the differences if you know them?

I've played all the TW series games, except the Japanese ones. Medieval 2 and Napoleon (get this, the Wellington DLC and the Sharpe's stories from Bernard Cornwell for a heavy dose of Napoleon prozac) too many hours to count.

Just now I have begun to delve into Rome 2 (after reading the Masters of Rome books by Colleen McCullough). For me reading historical novels enhance the TW experience, or is it the other way around?

I've played these to death. Sadly I get the bug in Empire where smoke from sieges drops the frame rate to 0 and it seems to happen across various PCs for me. Even knowing the Lead Designer from CA couldn't get it fixed :(

Rome II is good, but I'd advice looking at some mods on Steam like 2 turns per year and some of the AI improvements and maybe the removal of Squalor. It's largely pointless other than to cause strife. It's a much better game now than when released.

Ah that is really cool about the Wellington DLC... I enjoyed the Sharpe series, though not as much as I enjoyed the Aubrey-Maturin Series. I will have to look more into that!

I have really only played E:TW with the darthmod. For anyone that at the very least knows of it, thinks of it as a necessity. The AI in all of the TW games never has been as good as it should... still a great game though.

Napoleon is Europe/north Africa only - Essentially the same map as Rome1/2 - and focuses entirely on the Napoleonic era.
