I see there's a ton of planes in the game.. gonna be kinda pricey if they charge like $ 10 for each plane.

It does look like a proper game though, interesting concept this 'combat MMO' game.

Way too pricey indeed, i bet the prices and the system they use will eventually kill the game.
I am sure i wont buy it, as i dont want to "lease" a bunch of 1's and 0's for such insane prices.

I don't think so. wargaming.net make >10 mio. $ per month with World Of Tanks. This game should go the same route with the same strategy.

Well the thing with WoT is that you dont have to pay to play, and as far as i can see the strategy on War Thunder is all about the big bucks, or am i missing something like you can play4free?

Woah! Seriously expensive! What does it all mean?!

I still don't know what this game is meant to be. Does it have real FM's and DM's based on technical data, based on the IL2 data like the other Gaijin games? Or is it a pseudo sim?

I see that you can upgrade your pilots to fly better which is OK to a point but if its like World of Tanks, which is clearly a pay to win arcade game with a real damage model I'm just not interested.

I'd be tempted to play this as its clearly allot better than World of Warplanes will be but is it a sim? I can't find an answer.

ATM not a sim but, until the open beta starts a "full realism" setting will be included. Played for an hour today and I can say it is fun.

Hmmm..."Full realism" sounds interesting, but then again it's a word that has many different meanings to different people. What kind of realism will it make "full" ;)
But if it is fun and it is sim enough (like in IL-2) then I will be very interested to follow it's future development. At this point, from my impression of it, it is very pricey for what it offers.

Is it good enough though? Is it like IL2 with a decent DM or is it like BF or one of those games where you can't stall out or just hold the stick back and go round in circles as the main form of combat? Or is the Fm good enough to do things like rolling scissors and take into account altitude with performance etc?

Decided not to install and participate in the program, too expensive and you have to purchase even in the beta program.

Sounds like a sensible decision HaJa :)
I also believe Wotan said it was not a worthy "successor" to IL-2 either so it would probably not have been a real choice for us anyway.

It has some sort of appeal as I spent 2 hours yesterday afternoon with it: A quick and dirty way of shooting at ww2 planes.

And you don't need any money or lions or eagles when you start playing. Every country has 3 free planes to start with and repair and rearm is free for these.

That sounds OK, but it's still a monthly fee attached to the game and that makes it very expensive, for me at least :(
