Well, been playing Day-Z SA the last few days...

...And I love it. Been teaming up with Quick & DOA and they been showing me the ropes and answering the many questions I have. This is a true, open sandbox and in many ways the game just simply fascinates me. Looking forward to the build as it progresses. Hopefully though I quit throwing weapons away (stupid inventory system) but I'm starting to grasp it. It's a nice break from the speed and chaos of BF4 and I can see me playing a fair bit of Day-Z in the future. Or at least until the game pisses me off.

Yeah, probably. And like a n00b, a couple hours ago DOA and I came across a dead players body and I panicked a minute later thinking the enemy was very close and I killed him. LOL

Good thing it was at the NEAF and where he spawned was very close and retrieved his gear.

rofl, glad you're enjoying the game kitty.

Incidentally, I took Friday off and have a very long weekend (5 days) so if you wanna kill some Z's together then let's hook up :)

With the number of players on FT we should be able to get quite the gang together in DayZ over the weekend :)

Goddammit. Jumped on the server to try and find a long range scope and it was a disaster. Went to city hall in Novo and was on the top of the building and went to pick something up and my AKM disappeared. Gone. Fell through the floor or something. So then I went to NW airfield, picked up some decent stuff but no AKM. Keep in mind I must have 400 rounds for that gun. Then went to Svetlojarsk and the zombies ate me alive.

Starting from scratch when I log back in. Fuck.

Welcome to DayZ, lol.

I too hate the running around with 2 guns having to hold one in my hands. I always end up having a zip of soda in the middle of nowhere and forgetting all about the gun I was holding.
It's realistic I guess, so I just hold on to one gun (and one pistol tucked away somewhere).

It is kind of disheartening losing all your stuff, but then again, the starting with nothing bit is usually the most action packed bit of the gameplay, and you can take risks that you wouldn't take with a full inventory as you have little to lose. And of course friends get to share stuff with you when you got nothing, so that's when teamplay comes into focus too.
Hope to catch you on the server this weekend :)

I would advise just never playing alone, if I'm frank.

Working on recruiting enough players that we're able to sustain and have people in teamspeak playing on the server at literally all hours of the day and night - That's required a few Ozzies that struggle to play on our server due to ping. Keep getting kicked for high ping.

I haven't changed anything to the ping settings, IIRC it was at unlimited or the built in max ping limit.
Might want to up it and see what performance does.
I cannot guarantee to not have any latency issues to ozzyland if that works tho.

Australia is always going to ping high to North American and European servers. This is what happens when you're an island in the middle of nowhere in the southern hemisphere. If we start catering to the high pingers, it will drive the low pingers away and I'm sure we don't want that. My 150 ping is bad enough...

Between North American's and Euro's, if a server is gonna be successful these 2 groups are enough to make it successful. Just ask Hydra.

Ozzie's are always a struggle to get in game with for this very reason.

Raising the ping limit won't just accommodate them, it will accommodate just about anyone with a high latency connection and everyone's gameplay will suffer as a result.

I'll leave it up to the masses to decide but I'm personally against a high ping limit because I think it will hurt more people than it helps.

It was set at 300 by default. I raised it to two days ago to 350 as the ozzie's seem to ping around 315-320~ on average.

Nice, i guess that is about the only option we have to let them play here, apart from hosting another box on ozzie soil :)

I know back when DayZ+ was in the making that their Dev/official servers were hosted in the UK while most of the dev team came from australia, never heard them about having an issue with the high ping tho, except for some delays here and there.

Australians tend to ping better to American servers than they do European ones.

The best American local with the fairest latency tradeoffs for everyone in North America and our European contingent is Chicago. New York/New Jersey is an inconsistent ping nightmare for us West Coasters, and Dallas is just complete crap contrary to popular belief.

Canadian and West Coast Servers are a complete waste of money.

Was fun playing last night, looked over to the clock and it was just past 3 am so it was time for me to go. Running around punching d00k in the face brings a smile.
