So I gave DayZ another go today and found a hatchet in the first house I tried. Even better, I also found a main rotor assembly (less than 1% chance apparently).

Then, right as I was about to make my way out of there, the door opens and another player trains about 15 zombies in. Needless to say, I died - wasn't having much luck with the hatchet either, I guess I'll have to practise more.

The other guy died too, I assume he was a fresh spawn like me.

So, another fresh start for me I guess...

The initial spawn is horrible, thus the reason to acquire starter gear and keep sets of it at camp. It has gotten even harder lately as well.

The zombies aggro from further, and they agrro easier, you can crouch-walk and still aggro the damn bastards now!

So starting out is a nightmare, I died and had to start over, it took 20 respawns to be somewhere that wasnt the debug foret or Kamenka. When I finally got to Sol and made it to Berezino I ran into Mike and Dredd and Tyhpon who saved my broken legged, bleeding, shaking, 2000 blood self.

And during the run/crouch to Berez all I found was a revolver and 1 mag of ammo.

Yeah it looks like the zombies are bugged or some what.
When in daylight, when you get close to a town you can agro a zombie like 200meters away and the zombie close by won't even see you.

Ya I noticed that too Mizi but I wonder it's a line of sight thing?

So far it seems I can get pretty close if I'm behind, but if I'm in front or even beside, they can agro well beyond my apparent visible range.

One thing we found was if you run through a few bushes the aombies loose sight of you (even when right on you) and stop chasing.

Well you have 10000 swings with the Axe.... don't spare them... I suggest we set up a couple of tents close to the spawn areas... like put one on the far south west corner... and put in a couple of axes.. some food a couple of hand guns maybe... that way if and when you die you just have to make your way to one of these tents... we just don't store important stuff there... I don't know just rambling.... but it is fun when you get rescued on the spawns tho....

Or put a tent with the really good stuff a bit past the camp out of site, so when the camp does get discovered we are not completely wiped out.
