Never, ever, ever did I think I'd be writing this post as I had no intention of picking up Wolfenstein: The New Order. It just looked a bit like too much of a departure from Return to Castle Wolfenstein which to this day still remains one of my favorite id titles.
That being said, I've always kept it on my radar because, well because, it's Wolfenstein under Bethesda and I kinda like Bethesda; can't imagine Skyrim having anything to do with that lol.
I've played a bit of it just to get familiar with the mechanics and wasn't expecting to want to play much beyond that point. To my surprise, Wolfenstein: The New Order is a pretty solid title, so far at least anyway.
In this installment, Nazi's won WWII and you play in an alternate history as BJ Blazkowicz trying to locate and re-build the likely captured resistance.
I'm not in the game that far but from what I've seen, the action is pretty intense and there's actually some story elements in there as well. As much as I miss the whole Imp angle and Nazi's using demons to win the war, the Mech angle is equally fascinating and pretty well done.
The combat mechanics are also very solid and a few bobbles aside, work well over just about any terrain. Oddly enough, even though it's a very linear game, the level design is varied and quite atmospheric which really keeps you engaged.
I'll likely put up a level or two on our YouTube Channel within the next few days just to give those of you who passed on the title a little taste of what's in it.
...besides, I need plenty or work on running commentary so this should help at least a bit lol.
