Your Game Name

Your game name is as unique as you are but the one thing that many game names have in common is they do not allow any insight into the person using them.

This being the case, please answer the two following questions about your game name/names:

  1. What is your game name or game names and why did you choose them?
  2. Can any parallels be drawn between your game name and you as a person; is there any personal relevance in your game name?
Please add as much detail or insight as you can comfortably share.

FYI, this is a Community Building exercise so we can get to know each other a little better :)

JohnnyK

Hardcore
1.JohnnyKnoxville, chosen for BF42 and used ever since. I loved watching Jackass and played like one, so I felt it was a good choice.
2. Yes. No. Yes. Probably. Although my clumsiness now is probably more health-related than anything else.

godsgift

Core
1 godsgift, when i started playing online i couldn't think of anything clever and most good names were taken. One night playing FH i figured i am a godsgift to the enemy since i suck and am never any help to my team so i thought i would stick with that for a while.

2 My wife seems to think that i am godsgift but i can point out lots of people that would disagree.

Still wondering if i shouldn't change the nick, problem is i've been using it for a long time now and it feels familiar

1. PepsiChic - for everything. I used to be just Pepsi when I was in the hacking/cracking scene but being such a male orientated group I was far too often mistaken for a guy so I added Chic to my name...it is pronounced "chick" not "sheek" there is no K on the aend because we used mIRC and the server only allowed 9 characters. I was 14 the first time I started using Pepsi as a nickname online.

2. The name Pepsi originates from my first ever cat, she was my best friend and I miss her dearly! - After her all my cats have been named after a drink...mostly alcoholic now. I guess im bubbly like the drink but thats about it, i dont come in a can or a bottle.

Happyclam

Casual
1. I've been several names over the years, but I like choosing names that are double entendres, like my current, and longest, incarnation, Happyclam. I choose these simply to see how people react when they see it. I can say I got my name because of an old fisherman's saying 'Happy as a clam at high tide', since clams could only be harvested at low tide, but I also know that people see it as a something lascivious, which I point out as to whether it is me being lewd, or their perception of the world as being lewd. 'Why should I be punished if they're they ones seeing something bad type' of thing. I got away with being called Dingleberry in Rift on a roleplay server, simply because I could show my character's background reflected a life resembling a dingleberry's, something clinging to life where nothing else could, which is an actual plant that the euphemism comes from. Plus it poked fun at how seriously roleplayers take themselves, when I had done more work on a joke character than the majority of them did on their 'real' characters, where they used 'fantasy' names. It's all subjective.

2. Yes, of course. It reflects my personality in which I poke fun at things I find to be too serious.

Fireblade came from the fact that I have an amazing case of Gonorrhea. Pretty much answers both questions.

Engnr

Was at a friends house forever and a day ago. We converted his garage into a LAN party haven. I put the network together, all the wiring for about 40 players, ran a sub panel for extra electrics, removed the garage door and built a wall with two huge window a/c units. He "nicked" me Engineer Fucker for all the patience I put in to making it look nice and neat. At the beginning of the first party I typed in "EngnrFckr" as my name for TF1, he laughed his ass off, and so it just stuck. I toned it down to "Engnr" right after I joined Wolf because I needed to be more "PC" when they dragged me into my first admin position. Boy what a mistake, now look at me, you bastards!

Jezebel

Core
1. jezebel - a shameless impudent scheming woman

2. Slackjaw Jezebel - It means a girl who is incredibly manipulative and fucks with dudes minds.

I was initially "Mouse" playing FH but decided that I needed something that reflected my personality better. I searched high and low and came across the biblical character Jezebel.

I not quite the bitch she was but it's a work in progress - ask Engnr and then pray for him. Poor guy. :p

T.T.H.

Casual
1. T.T.H. or TeeTeeHaa if the first one is not possible.

2. I was 12 when I introduced myself to a group of others in a "place where kids can learn how to use computers creatively". It was the time when some kids had C64s and in that place they had Amiga-ooooh-soooo-coool-s. Back then I said "my name is Matthias, but please with 't' 't' 'h'" because everybody wrote my name wrong and I didn't like that. The supervisor answered "hello 't' 't' 'h'". It simply stuck since then. I'm a firm believer that one does not choose nicknames but they happen to one. Great thing back then was that pretty much all game highscores only used 3 characters for the user names. The dots between the characters came later when my mother made me a cloth handkerchief with my nickname on it and she just put dots in there. No clue why. The long version is how you pronounce the short version in German. Pretty much everybody except my family and my coworkers call me with my nickname, even my parents-in-law.

ElektroVodka

That's really hard to answer, given the fact that i used several nicks:)

Quicksilver however originated from BF1942 in a clan called LPB(Low Ping Bastards)
After countless hours of flying and killing very succesfully with Mosquito (At the time (LPB)Lt.Col.EU and me being (LPB)Lt.Col.Mike ) we landed on respectively the 1st and 2nd place of the BF1942 world ranking and remained there for a long period of time (We even did that in FH aswell) a clanmate made a remark about it and in some weird way he came up with Quicksilver.

And since then i started using it as my primary online nick :)

Duke:

I've never had a nickname my entire life. For some reason, I'm just one of these people that no nickname ever sticks to.

That changed in the eyes of one guy about 24 years ago who started calling me Duke. I had no idea where he got the name from so when I asked he said it was because I'm half Russian, doukhobor.

Spelling at Duke just looks aesthetically better.

alter-ego:

I'm still Duke in spirit but I use this when Duke is unavailable which is frequently.

As stated above, Duke is relevant to me being half Russian and proudly so.

1. In BF42, if you ran someone over with a vehicle or managed to killed someone in a non-conventional way, it would say that "Someone [killed] someone else" by being "With A Vengeance" it meant that if my character were to be killed that way, the killer would kill-- with a vengeance! So it was rather a joke.

2. That was really the reason why I did it. Coincidentally, I do enjoy revenge stories, even if not as much as I used to, and I actually set up in-game revenge plans when someone killed me in an embarassing way (like with a knife). I recall putting up a signature where I promised to hit JohnnyKnoxville with a bazooka, and changed the signature to record the revenge once I got him.

So yeah, it had nothing to do with Die Hard, and I've never actually seen Die Hard. Also coincidentally, I created a BF42 map called "City Under Siege," unaware at the time that it's also is the name of a Die Hard movie.

Super Mod
Interesting reading, nice idea sir.

1. Cpl.Punishment when I joined the pack back in the day... Kamikazee Ninja for everything else

2. Cpl.Punishment was just me being a dick, choosing a midly amusing name based on spanking that ass. And yes there is personal relevance to that, just ask d00k

Kamikazee Ninja just perfectly reflects my style of play, for better or worse, for nearly everything I do in-game!

4. What happened to 3?

3. Oh there it is.

I like turtles.

Tex Arcana: A graphic novel by John Findley I enjoyed as a young man. -He's a Vampire/Demon hunting gunslinger in the U.S. old west. I also go by Will McKnight: He was a Canadian WW2 fighter pilot (242 Squadron- Hurricanes. Led by Sir Douglas Bader) from Calgary, Alberta. He was amongst the highest scoring Commonwealth aces (17 kills. Fifth highest Canadian of the War) up until January 12th 1941, when he was shot down.

Great idea, duke.

Really fun reading through these :D

The ballad of bbob:
One day I was playing BF42 with Senap and the map was El Alamein. I was flying a spitfire and he a B17. After a bit of mucking about, I manage to heroicly assault one of that maps very rare palm trees with my airframe.

For some reason Senap found this amusing, so he reached for his keyboard with the intent of writing the words "lol, you n00b!" into the chat. Meanwhile, a german aeronaut hell bent on putting an end to any form of somewhat coherent english, showed up behind him wielding a BF109

The result: "lol, yuo bb0b!"

Where did he go, btw?
