Who was moaning? I'm curious about it. Graphically, it looks similar, but I hear it's gonna require heavier hardware? I dunno. Gameplay-wise, the game looks very similar, but I hear the class loadouts are very very different, and squad play is pretty seriously changed. That sounds pretty cool, actually. One issue I had with BF3 was how undervalued the Recon class was (whereas in BFBC2, you could play "active recon" using motion tracker balls and more assault-style weapons).

Unfortunately, I'm gonna be out of the country from 10/7 through 10/15, and am pretty busy this weekend, so I probably won't get to try the beta. Oh well.

I don't know about the heavier hardware requirement because the game is in BETA and still has optimization left to be done. My framerates may be a little lower than B2K so if you could play that expansion then you can probably handle BF4 (at least so far).

Recon has been bumped in many areas especially now that they can carry C4 and have better motion tracking gear as well as range finders. Their also able to use a much larger variety of weaponry than ever before making them much more effective on the Battlefield.

The one thing I was worried about though is Recon being more effective overall at camping which doesn't seem to be an issue so far. As it is, you can access many areas that Recon can so they tend to camp a bit less, at least so far, but I guess that can always change.

You really need to find a few hours to try out the BETA. Between 4 - 6 hours is what you'll need to spend ingame (at least) to get an idea of what you're in for in BF4 IMHO.

I still don't see the BF4 BETA (CAPITAL LETTERS) on my Origin screen. Anyone else without BF3 Premium get it yet?

BF4 Beta doesn't work for me. It loads halfway then my CPU goes to 100%. Clicking on the game while loading (like in BF3), it still loads halfway and freezes.

I read that it's a known issue. I updated my drivers to the latest beta ones, and tried the Punkbuster update and it still doesn't work.

Your duo-core just beats the minimum specs (2.4 duo).

TLB member Corsair has an older duo core, I think it's basically a low Celeron, and he can't get into a game. He threw in 16 GB of DDR3 ram yesterday but that didn't help.


I'm starting to see a pattern emerge - seems like you tards using ancient duo processors can't access the beta. Perhaps you'll have better luck with the release. Or better yet, spend some money and get a new machine.

Also, I have a newer graphics card that what I listed in my original build. That's the only thing I have upgraded. Even then, it's above the minimum requirements of a 8800 GT.
