Nice, that looks pretty awesome. I like how everything falls apart into bits and pieces.
Is this game comparable to Elite: Dangerous, or is it something totally different?
Well first off , its in such an early state that i wouldn't call it a full game yet .
As it spread out over modules : Arena Commander for flight and pvp testing , FPS module for ground based combat(like a shooter game) and the soon to be released Persistent Universe module for persistence testing .
As to the Elite comparison ,the way i see it is that Star Citizen is Elite's big brother (well its going to be , early development and all that

) .
Star Citizens scope is going to be much wider then Elite , for instance :
Multi-crewed ships(actual players operating different systems on one ship) . Multiple alien races with fully worked out languages and backgrounds , with which u can interact (in a good or bad way ).
A fully fleshed out single player campaign that , when u finish the story line, drops u in the persistence online universe .
Modding might be available at launch(not sure as there's not a lot of info available on the modding part yet but it has been mentioned by Chris Roberts) .
Several forms of sports u can compete in , one that's already available in the Arena Commander module is the ship racing (players are already competing over the best times and are setting world records

) , and at pax east yesterday they announced a form of zero-g arena type combat .(if u have seen Enders Game , its exactly like that ) .
And a ton more planned that i cant recall from the top of my head

.
