B2O iRacing 12 Hours of Sebring Team Discussion

That set felt decent Sam. I felt it turned in decently well and I didn't feel a lot of understeer. The only place I found any real issues were coming around the last corner, it doesn't handle the bumps well on power. It wanted to step out on me a lot there. This is true of any car, at any time, but this set in particular seemed less stable there than the B setup. It felt great on the rest of the track though.
thx, that's some good feedback. we haven't changed the HS compression and rebound on this set, it's still baseline. so that could be something to work on. i'll hopefully be at PP tonight so we can work on the setup some more. and make it more stable over bumps (i don't really know how to but i'm sure we'll figure something out :p )

@Sam Roselaar go to the sebring 12 hour screen top left , then under that it says home sessions schedule stats results
Click stats , then 3rd tab along is qually results
thx i got it :)

as of now i'm 111 out of 162 which is not too good but i'm sure we'll be able to better this time. but it just seems so unfair to me that some people got the chance to qualify on the old tires....

At the risk of sounding INSANELY dumb (ok that's not a far stretch for me), is qualifying position that important for a 12 hour race that grids 60 cars at a time? Seems like death could be everywhere and the race goes on for a long time so starting position would be less important than say a 20 minute spring with 20 cars.

Mike, the closer you are to the front of your grid ( say it is split 30 GT3s and 30 C7s ) the less likely you are to be caught up in the possible carnage in your field, or slowed down by it. A good clean start is nice to get away from the melee and get into your rhythm as soon as possible.

Sam, with many splits, you will always benefit from the fastest qually you can get, not only does it put your in front of people who STILL think qually will be in session but if you are in a lower split your time will push you even further forward. That 111 is out of everyone who qualified, you could be closer to the front than you think, additionally everyone who is driving can qualify so a lot of those 110 people faster than you can be on the same team.

this is very well said however carnage is sometimes unavoidable, no matter where you qualify. just look a Noël's flawless qualifying time at le mans 2016 yet he got wrecked. so i can definitly see your point Kinger. but i still think qualifying good is a clear advantage. i also want to know how good i am compared to some other drivers to get an idea of what it's going to be like saturday, but according to nejtun this 111th spot doesn't say much. i hope he's right xD

The nice thing about an endurance race is that even if you get caught in carnage early, with lengthy repairs, there is time to still salvage a good run because people will be dying all race.

If Marc thinks this is drivable it will probably be the final race setup. After a great tip from Aki, we lowered the tire pressures to 110 kPa, which for some reason works. And it works by being a lot faster and more consistent through a stint.

I played a little bit with the differential. I was getting lift-off oversteer in the left hand turns 3, 5 and 15.5. So I reduced the coast ramp angle. Also, on the 110 pressures I felt some more corner exit oversteer, so the drive ramp angle has been increased to roughly match what Nejtun was running before.

Noel, Marc, Nejtun, are you guys running B2O Endurance Red or some other Team?

Myself, Sam and Matt are using B2O Endurance.

B2O Endurance - Red should be fine, Ken! As long as we're all on the team. Nejtun and Nöel were not, last I checked!

I checked before posting and they were both on it. B2O Endurance Red has you, me, Davey, Noel and Nejtun on it.

I got an invite yesterday from someone so I'm on it as well. What kind of rim color and car number should we run?
This is up to you actually.

We're running matte red rims #490000 and car #95 on the Merc as we have in most Endurance races.

Did a full fuel run on our set last night and it felt great. I think I can get down in the 2:04's if I keep pushing, but I can do 2:05's relatively comfortably.

i just did some tests, and lower tire pressures are without a doubt faster, up to .5 actually. i ran a 2:02:7 on a full tank!

i'm gonna do some more tests to see how the tires hold up over a full fuel run. i've done a half run so far. the car feels a bit more loose and powerslides much more. the tires wear out faster than high pressure ones. even when it feels worse i was still faster.

i'm not saying we should make any drastic changes but it's definitly worth trying it out for yourself seeing as how big the difference is between them (my opinion)

maybe we could try a compromise between 120 and what we previously ran?
(i ran around 120)

The only way I'm going to agree to drastic changes in tire pressures at this time is if all 3 of us are in session together.

As it is we may be off pace somewhat but we have a stable set that works over the long run. We simply are out of time if all 3 of us are going to try and acclimate to these changes before tomorrow AM.

I agree with Ken. At this point I'd rather be off the pace but comfortable and stable. It's a 12 hour race, a lot of the people going for crazy loose race cars for speed are going to end up on a wrecker and we'll take their place as we comfortably toddle by at a slower pace.

i 100% agree. i'm not even sure if i like the change myself xD even though lower pressures are faster our setup is a lot more stable and reliable.

i'm still gonna run lower pressures in qualiy though :)

I'm not going to be able to make the usual Practice Pals time of 8pm ET tonight due to an early bed time, but I am going to be in TS practicing this afternoon from 2pm-4pm ET and 6pm-7pm ET (I'm meeting my dad some where in there, just for an hour or so, that is why there is a break.)

If I don't see you guys there, have fun tonight, get a good nights sleep, and know I'm looking forward to spending tomorrow with you guys!
