Mike, the closer you are to the front of your grid ( say it is split 30 GT3s and 30 C7s ) the less likely you are to be caught up in the possible carnage in your field, or slowed down by it. A good clean start is nice to get away from the melee and get into your rhythm as soon as possible.
Sam, with many splits, you will always benefit from the fastest qually you can get, not only does it put your in front of people who STILL think qually will be in session but if you are in a lower split your time will push you even further forward. That 111 is out of everyone who qualified, you could be closer to the front than you think, additionally everyone who is driving can qualify so a lot of those 110 people faster than you can be on the same team.
