I'm not surprised that mods are already on there way out, I just hope this wasn't part of SCS' plan.

I do enjoy the game so far but at 1GB download that's pretty pathetic for a game that's been in development for this length of time.

Oh, SCS has always said, there's always mods. They do good mod support in return though, editors, scs file packers, and detailed instructions as well as conversion info for each patch. There were already mods for the dev beta of ATS 2 years ago XD

lol. I imagine myself wearing a truckers hat with a handlebar moustache definitely!

I got the Logitech G29 through today and after (finally) getting it working and set up it's absolutely awesome :D

Thanks Shilka for the help getting the gear shifting set up properly. It's just gone to another level for me. Total relaxation :)

Luckily opinions are like assholes, everyone has their own ;-)
And my asshole thinks it fugly :p

It's not the actual truck i don't like, just all the bits and pieces around it.

This is the truck of a friend of mine, almost the same type but less useless crap on it.

Here's my current truck. A bit cleaner ;) Downside is the chassis is sitting a bit higher, which makes the AI at times think they can just drive under the trailer, lol.

lol Shilka! Nice truck :icon_cool:

Yeah I'm still not sure about the two peterbilt bits on the grill and on the roof. I might change those actually as it's a bit much in the dark. Otherwise it's pretty much the same as your friends truck, that is amazing btw. You should give me some credit for not putting the bullhorns on it haha

Maybe I'm in a minority here, but this game would interest me a lot more if there was an actual hardcore tycoon simulation aspect to it. Actual in-game economy and simulation of supply and demand would set up an awesome MP experience for competing player-companies. Not to mention a stock market for the companies, etc etc. A fully-simulated business side of things, not what ETS had to offer, would be incredible.

Maybe ATS promises these things, I don't know the full planned features, etc. but what good is MP experience if you're just making money for the same company and you'll be able to drive by the person in-game once every 5 years... seems like a shallow MP.

It's not and never claimed to be an RPG, it's a Truck Driving Simulator.

I agree that stuff would add a whole new dynamic to the game but it may also detract from the actual Driving which is the focal point of this title.

Personally I'd rather see the systems it has in place polished a lot better before trying to add anything new.

I'd love to be able to walk around my truck, connect the trailer wiring, even get out and get a coffee when the fatigue simulation starts my guy yawning.

Where do you get RPG from? I never said anything about that...

You're running a business, something it's touted to do since at least ETS. You can hire more drivers, buy trucks for your fleet, etc, so it sounds like TO ME it is trying to be a driving sim with a truck business sim.

So why is it so much for me to ask that that aspect of the game be much much better? Not to mention the basic premise of the game is taking jobs that require an economy, and there's no real economy, so how can you run a business?

Because if they add in depth stuff like that, 80% will drop the game because it gets too hard and in fact it has zero to do with driving trucks, which they got it for in the firstplace.

What a bunch of redneck simpletons then.

My argument is it does have to do with driving trucks. What good are trucks without an economy? Without supply and demand?

You guys think it won't add much to the game for you and that's fine. I get that you just want to drive. All I'm saying is I think it should be more; a just driving a truck aspect is extremely flat to me.

@ little P: I think there's a non lit version of the peterbilt logo on the front too. And perhaps halve the amount of roof lights, usually they are not that close together, and it will looked pimped but not over the top.

And yeah, it's hard enough to reverse park already without having a car stuck under your trailer, lol.

@ Daunt: It's like race driving without economy and team orders and money concerns :p

On a more serious note. In the latest interview with the CEO of SCS, he mentioned that they are planning a more strict and challenging economy for world of trucks. Since WoT is an optional choice, it won't interfere with the arcade players of the game. Think stuff like earning money a lot less quick, so you'll need several people to contribute to your virtual company, perhaps (no promises) also stuff like having to buy your own trailers, and combined (eventually) with coop MP. It's still a long way off, but the plans for world of trucks are a lot more 'hardcore' according to the CEO in the last interview. Perhaps eventually it will end up more to your liking ;)

I didn't say it wouldn't add much for me, because i most definitly would like an extended economy and in depth management.
I've been around trucks so much, my pee smells like diesel and my farts emit a huge black plume.

I knew someone would make that comparison, and I would never say "iRacing is only about racing and it would detract from the racing experience" Personally I'd ABSOLUTELY LOVE realistic team management, down to paying for engineers, testing, repairs, travel you name it!

A lot of other racing games/sims have this type of thing already. F1, Pcars, etc.

Yeah I ment it jokingly, but yeah, other games do have it, most rally games too (to some extend). I'd like more in depth economy myself too tbh, the current stuff is nice in the beginning, then you get to a point where it actually helps you out earning money for your own truck upgrades etc, but after a certain point it starts earning so fast you have nothing better to do with the money then just buy even more garages and trucks and drivers just to earn even more.
In my longest running profiles I got so many drivers I can't spend money as quick as I earn it anymore...
