Whoo 14 inc in 13 laps! Maybe I'll have to start working on finishing races or something.
If you don't mind my asking, do you feel inverse grid Qualify Race may put undue stress on some lower iRating Drivers and force them into crashing out?

I started from the pits this week because not paying attention, but yes very much so. More so at difficult tracks that I have a difficult time traversing in these cars no less having all you quick people behind me.

Edit- I think a lot of this has to do with car comfort, I am not at all comfortable with these cars and driving around people is pretty nerve racking. I've been driving center drive open cockpit cars for too long I constantly forget the right side of the car exists.

I feel like it's the best way to populate a quali-race fairly. And it has made some awesome races thus far. But drivers should be able to opt out of it and start at the back ahead of time. Maybe not the best solution but still. We shouldn't have newer drivers feel like we're running over them.

Some assholes make some real stupid moves before the first corner. Don't I know it.

That was epic and fortunately you had a ton of people around you that could handle that situation well. I woulda probably killed us both and the rest of the field would have probably followed lol.

I've wondered this from day 1 really but never committed to a system to address the issue.

What we can do is keep the field inverse grid however have those who wish to grid toward the rear of the field and manually place them. It takes seconds to do and ensures everyone is as comfortable as possible when the lights go out.

Nail on the head, Duke! I was nervous as hell and probably contributed to my crashing after the hairpin. BUT For my own personal preference I will continue to start at the front. There's one thing that motocross and racing in general have taught me. Getting a good start and running front of pack is the best and fastest way to learn how to get faster and deal with the nerves that come from leading a race. You may make mistakes but the faster you can get those out of your system and learn from them, the faster and more confident your going to be. Having a short and selective memory helps too.

We'll simply add a role call at the setup stage of each Qualify Race and those who wish to grid at the tail end of the field will be placed so based off iRating.

...or Drivers can comment in that weeks League thread and state where they want to grid for the Qualify Race.

Everyone else will grid inverse as normal for the Qualify Race.

I can fully understand that someone who is not that comfortable in a car to be a bit nervous when at the front of a field of crazies such as us.

What you should remember though, is that it is always the responsibility for overtaking drivers to make a move with common sense. As long as you slow it down so you can easily take the corner while giving enough room then it would be really difficult to end up in a crash where you were the cause.

If someone dives through everyone like a Patron-painted-McLaren you can fairly safely assume that they will get the drive-through if things go wrong :)

Which kind of makes me wonder if I should have taken a drive-through in the incident between Davey and I?

I don't feel like I bombed it in there but we did come together with him getting a meatball because of it.

I think so, because your car was fine and his wasn't. I haven't watched the replay but I think you drifted from the apex into Davey. Although, Davey said he didn't care so maybe not.

True but it's dangerous to take vehicle damage as a standard given how lopsided the damage system is. I have the rare fortune of actually damaging a Ford yet one can literally drive through me and carry on without issue. We just happened to come together at corner exit, his car steering in front of mine and I hit his wheel; black flag.

The same argument can be made about when you and I came together Noel and when Kyle punted me in the braking zone in the last chicane.

If I was an ass I could have made a stink about either one of them but didn't because both, while unfortunate, were understandable. I felt you had a legitimate passing opportunity but failed to give me space on corner exit whereas Kyle simply misjudged my braking zone given the McLaren's ability to get through the chicane faster than the BMW.

In the case of Davey and I, there was no dive-bomb into the corner, I simply could not hold the corner as tight as I would have liked. I'd have to re-watch the replay but honestly feel Davey could have gone wider as well.

Ultimately it was Davey's reaction to the incident that made me continue on and I think it needs to stay that way.

Now to be clear I'm not pointing fingers here at all but there is a flip side toward this system and that is in the form of abuse. Right now we're running a League populated with people we know that race with honor and integrity.

We can't know for certain if it will always be this way so we have to ensure that any system we come up with cannot be taken advantage of. We've all seen and heard people bitching constantly in comms and chat about dodgy driving or someone else yet few seem to realize they probably had a part to play in the situation.

...h3ll the last time I raced Sebring a Driver who punted me clear off the track blamed me for it because he said I shouldn't have been defending lol. You can't argue with someone like this because they're always right in their minds eye.

I think the best policy in this system is to tier it and follow Blancpains guidelines in the process because their system works.

Unfortunately we don't have real time course Marshals so some of our Policing will have to be made post race.

I'll likely mock up a quick flowchart though so people can visually see how the system works.

What I really love though is it's another form of communication in comms that puts our League miles ahead of the rest. You can clearly tell by our communication how much we care about each others races which is simply amazing.

Hi all, ive been kidnapped by "fromTheNavy" and been told i cannot leave. EVER!!
So here i am saying my hello, and stating my interest the the BSS league that you got runnning.
Ive been trying to find a schedule for the season and the tracks that you plan on running but failed to find one. I know that you race on friday evening/night which suits me fine, but im unaware of the start times.

So yehh just letting you know that im interested in joining.

I'd like to bring the RUF Track with me as i see there is only one other driver runnning it! plus its the car ive always used :)

But yehh if you could point me in the right direction as to what i need to do or read up on (racing etiquettes n shizz) if needed.

Thanks,
Ganja.

Yes, it obviously was not a malicious move by you. The only reason I brought up the difference in damage is because your car was fine and Davey's was totalled, regardless of how accurate the damage model is. If both cars were fine then this would not even be perceived as an incident.

I think it mainly depends on you whether you felt if a drive-through was acceptable. If you say that you might have drifted slightly off the apex but also say that Davey pinched you too much then we can view it after the race and decide then. Unless of course if Davey doesn't want you to have a drive-through, as was the case.

And I agree, I think that incident with you and me was fully my fault so I would happily have taken a drive-through if you wanted because it cost you your spot.

We should limit drive-throughs to advantageous outcomes only though. If two cars get a 0x in a corner but no harm is done then there would be no point in a penalty for one of them, even though there was some contact.

Edit: a better word for the above is probably disadvantageous; where one car gets away from an incident better than another.
